Description
Quick Product Summary
The Roland TD513 V-Drums Electronic Drum Kit delivers next-generation V-Drums performance in a streamlined setup designed for serious home practice, recording and compact live use. At its heart is the powerful V51 sound module, using the same core drum engine as Roland's flagship V71 and featuring a premium multi-sampled sound library created in collaboration with Drum Workshop (DW).
A responsive PD-12P snare, redesigned tom pads, traditional stand-mounted VH-10 hi-hat, two crash cymbals, three-zone ride and low-noise KD-10 kick create an expressive playing experience without requiring the footprint of a full acoustic-style electronic kit. Deep sound editing, Bluetooth, wireless Roland Cloud integration, multi-channel USB audio and extensive practice tools make the TD513 a versatile platform that can grow alongside your playing.
What Makes the Roland TD513 Special?
The TD513 brings technology developed for Roland's flagship V-Drums systems into a more compact and accessible configuration. Its V51 module shares the core sound engine of the V71, with more than 1,000 instruments, over 70 preset kits and sophisticated multi-layer sampling developed with DW. Roland's behaviour modeling, round-robin sample playback and detailed processing help performances remain dynamic and natural across everything from quiet ghost notes to powerful accents.
The playing surfaces have also been carefully selected for expressive response. The new PD-12P snare uses triple piezo sensors and positional sensing, while redesigned PD-8H and PD-10H toms use offset sensor designs to reduce unwanted hot spots. Thin-profile V-Cymbals, the VH-10 stand-mounted hi-hat and the durable KD-10 kick complete a kit that feels familiar to acoustic drummers while remaining practical for home and studio environments.
Who Is It For?
The Roland TD513 is ideal for intermediate and advanced drummers, committed learners, home recording musicians and performers who want high-end V-Drums sound technology without moving to a larger acoustic-design electronic kit.
Its compact rack makes it especially practical for home use, while extensive audio outputs, USB audio/MIDI and sound editing provide the flexibility needed for recording and performance. The integrated coaching functions also make it a particularly strong choice for players focused on improving timing, consistency, endurance and technique.

FAQs
Is the Roland TD513 suitable for serious drummers?
Yes. The TD513 combines a high-performance V51 sound module with responsive mesh pads and extensive connectivity, making it suitable for committed players, recording musicians and performers as well as advanced home practice.
What is the difference between the TD513 and Roland's more basic V-Drums kits?
The TD513 belongs to Roland's newer V-Drums 5 Series and uses the V51 module, which shares its core sound engine with the flagship V71. It also provides deep sound editing, Roland Cloud expansion, extensive audio routing and 32-channel USB audio capability with the Roland driver.
Does the TD513 use mesh drum heads?
Yes. The snare and tom pads use responsive mesh playing surfaces that can be tension-adjusted to tailor the playing feel.
Do I need a separate snare stand?
Yes. The supplied PD-12P snare is designed to be positioned on a conventional snare stand, which is not included with the kit.
Does the TD513 include a hi-hat stand?
No. The VH-10 is designed to mount on a conventional acoustic-style hi-hat stand. A suitable hi-hat stand must be purchased separately.
Is a kick pedal included?
No. The TD513 includes the KD-10 kick pad, but a conventional bass drum pedal is required separately.
Is a drum throne included?
No. A drum throne is not included, allowing you to choose a seat that best suits your preferred playing height and setup.
Can I expand the TD513 with extra pads?
Yes. The V51 provides additional analog trigger inputs as well as three Digital Trigger inputs, giving the TD513 considerable scope for adding compatible pads and cymbals.
Can Roland digital pads be added later?
Yes. The V51 has three Digital Trigger inputs, allowing compatible Roland digital snare, ride and hi-hat pads to be incorporated as future upgrades.
Can I record the TD513 into a computer?
Yes. USB-C audio and MIDI connectivity allows the V51 to integrate directly with compatible recording software. With Roland's dedicated driver, up to 32 audio channels can be recorded over a single USB connection.
Does the TD513 have Bluetooth?
Yes. Bluetooth Audio and MIDI are supported, allowing compatible mobile devices to be used for backing tracks, lessons, MIDI applications and other functions.
Can I add my own drum samples?
Yes. WAV samples can be imported into the V51 and combined with internal instruments. Each pad assignment supports multiple sound layers for detailed sound creation.
Can I download additional drum sounds?
Yes. The V51's built-in wireless connectivity allows compatible V-Drums Instrument Expansions and Kit Packs to be downloaded through Roland Cloud Connect.
Is the TD513 good for quiet home practice?
Yes. Mesh pads, thin-profile electronic cymbals and the KD-10 kick system help keep acoustic noise significantly lower than a conventional drum kit. Physical stick and pedal impact will still produce some room noise, so additional isolation may be beneficial in flats or shared buildings.
Does the TD513 need an amplifier?
Not for headphone practice. For playing aloud, you will need a suitable drum monitor, PA system, headphones or other compatible amplification system.
