Schecter Damien Platinum-6 Satin Black Electric Guitar – Ex Display
Description
Quick Product Summary
The Schecter Damien Platinum-6 in Satin Black is a purpose-built modern electric guitar combining understated dark styling with a proven specification for rock and metal. A mahogany body and three-piece maple set neck provide a solid foundation, while the Thin “C” profile, 14" radius rosewood fingerboard and 24 X-Jumbo frets give the guitar a fast, comfortable feel for riffs, chords and technical lead work.
A classic pairing of EMG 81 and EMG 85 active humbuckers delivers the powerful, low-noise response that has made this combination a favourite for high-gain guitar tones. Grover tuners, a Graph Tech Black TUSQ XL nut and Tune-O-Matic bridge with string-through-body construction complete a straightforward, performance-focused instrument with no unnecessary complications.

What Makes the Schecter Damien Platinum-6 Special?
The Damien Platinum-6 strips the modern metal guitar down to the features that matter. Its mahogany body and three-piece maple set neck with Ultra Access provide a substantial, comfortable platform, while the Thin “C” neck measures approximately 20mm at the first fret and 22mm at the twelfth. A 14" radius rosewood fingerboard and 24 X-Jumbo frets provide a flatter, contemporary playing surface particularly well suited to wide bends, fast picking and technical lead work.
Its electronics use one of the best-known active humbucker combinations in heavy music: an EMG 81 at the bridge and EMG 85 at the neck. The 81 provides a tight, aggressive response for high-gain rhythm and cutting lead tones, while the 85 offers a fuller, smoother character from the neck position. The Satin Black finish, Satin Chrome hardware, Silver/Platinum binding and distinctive Platinum Bat inlays complete the Damien’s unmistakably dark aesthetic.
Who Is It For?
The Schecter Damien Platinum-6 is particularly well suited to intermediate, advanced and professional guitarists looking for a straightforward high-performance guitar for heavier styles. Its fixed bridge makes it considerably easier to restring and adjust than a double-locking tremolo-equipped guitar, while retaining the fast neck and powerful electronics associated with modern Schecter designs.
It is an excellent choice for metal, hard rock, alternative metal, progressive styles and high-gain recording, although the EMG 85 neck pickup can also provide useful cleaner and smoother lead sounds.
Why Choose An Active Humbucker Guitar?
Active pickups use an onboard preamp to produce a strong, consistent output with low noise. This makes them particularly effective with high-gain amplifiers and distortion, where definition and noise control become increasingly important.
The EMG 81/85 combination has become a long-standing choice for heavy guitar styles because the two pickups complement each other particularly well. The bridge-position 81 emphasises attack and definition, while the neck-position 85 provides a warmer and fuller alternative.
How Does It Compare?
Compared With The Damien Platinum-6 FR
The standard Damien Platinum-6 uses a Tune-O-Matic fixed bridge with string-through-body construction, while the FR version adds a Floyd Rose locking tremolo. The fixed-bridge model is the more straightforward option for players who prioritise simple restringing, tuning changes and easy maintenance over tremolo effects.
Compared With The Damien Platinum-6 FR S
The FR S adds both a Floyd Rose tremolo and a Sustainiac neck system. The standard Damien Platinum-6 instead retains the traditional EMG 81/85 pickup pairing and fixed bridge, making it a simpler and more conventional choice for players primarily focused on powerful rhythm and lead tones.
