Schecter Sunset-7 Red Dawn 7-String Electric Guitar
Description
Quick Product Summary
The Schecter Sunset-7 Red Dawn is a high-performance seven-string electric guitar designed for modern players who need extended range, tight low-end response and exceptional tonal flexibility. Its 27" scale length gives the lower strings additional tension and definition, while a three-piece maple set neck, ebony fingerboard and 24 X-Jumbo stainless-steel frets provide the speed and precision required for demanding rhythm and lead work.
A pair of Fishman Fluence Open-Core pickups combines a Modern Ceramic bridge voice with an Alnico neck voice, while multi-voice switching provides a far broader tonal palette than a conventional two-humbucker setup. Schecter locking tuners, a TonePros locking Tune-O-Matic bridge and string-through-body construction complete a serious extended-range instrument for modern metal, progressive styles, technical playing and lower tunings.

What Makes the Schecter Sunset-7 Red Dawn Special?
The Sunset-7 Red Dawn is built specifically around the demands of modern extended-range playing. Its 27" scale lengthhelps the seventh string maintain a tighter and more controlled feel, particularly when using lower tunings or substantial amounts of gain. The three-piece maple neck uses a set-neck design with Schecter Ultra Access, while the Ultra Thin “C” profile measures approximately 19mm at the first fret and 20mm at the twelfth. A flat 16" radius ebony fingerboard and 24 X-Jumbo stainless-steel frets create an exceptionally smooth platform for fast riffs, large stretches and technical lead techniques.
Its electronics are equally performance focused. The Fishman Fluence Modern Ceramic Open-Core bridge pickup and Fluence Alnico Open-Core neck pickup provide powerful, low-noise tones with multiple selectable voices. Red pickup bobbins, red binding and matching fingerboard details contrast sharply against the Gloss Black finish, while the TonePros locking bridge and Schecter locking tuners provide a stable fixed-bridge platform for stage, studio and rehearsal use.
Who Is It For?
The Schecter Sunset-7 Red Dawn is aimed primarily at intermediate, advanced and professional guitarists who want the additional range of a seven-string combined with a longer scale and premium modern features.
It is particularly well suited to modern metal, progressive metal, djent, technical rock, instrumental guitar and lower tunings, although the multiple Fishman pickup voices give it enough flexibility for clean passages, ambient textures and less aggressive styles.
Why Choose A 27" 7-String Guitar?
A seven-string guitar adds an additional lower string beneath the familiar six-string range, opening up deeper riffs, expanded chord voicings and more extensive melodic possibilities. On an extended-range guitar, scale length becomes particularly important because the lower strings benefit from additional tension.
The Sunset-7 Red Dawn uses a 27" scale, helping the low strings remain tighter and more defined than they would typically feel on a shorter-scale instrument. This makes it especially useful for precise rhythm playing and lower tunings.
How Does It Compare?
Compared With A Standard 25.5" 7-String
A conventional 25.5" seven-string can feel familiar to players moving directly from a six-string guitar, but the longer 27" scale of the Sunset-7 Red Dawn provides additional tension and definition in the lower register. Players focused on low tunings and tight high-gain rhythm work may particularly appreciate the extended scale.
Compared With A Multiscale 7-String
A multiscale guitar uses different scale lengths across the bass and treble strings. The Sunset-7 Red Dawn instead uses a consistent 27" scale and straight-fret layout, providing the benefits of an extended scale while retaining the familiar appearance and feel of conventional fretting.
