Maestro Ranger Overdrive Pedal, (Used)
Description
Quick Product Summary
The Maestro Ranger Overdrive is an all-analogue overdrive pedal inspired by the responsive character of classic valve amplifiers. It combines a straightforward three-knob control layout with two selectable voicings, making it equally comfortable delivering warm drive, touch-sensitive breakup or a useful level boost.
This used example is in Good condition, with cosmetic signs of previous ownership and normal pedalboard use. Gain, Tone and Level controls make it quick to dial in, while the Hi/Lo mode switch provides two distinct responses for adapting the Ranger to different guitars, amplifiers and playing styles.

What Makes the Maestro Ranger Overdrive Special?
Amp-Inspired Overdrive
The Ranger is voiced to capture the expressive breakup associated with vintage valve amplifiers. Rather than simply adding large amounts of distortion, it can retain a responsive relationship with picking dynamics and the guitar's volume control.
Two Distinct Voicings
A Hi/Lo mode switch provides two tonal responses. One offers a warm, expressive amp-like overdrive, while the alternative blends more of the clean signal for a slightly cleaner and especially touch-sensitive character.
This makes the Ranger useful both as a conventional drive pedal and as an always-on tone enhancer.
Straightforward Three-Knob Layout
The controls are deliberately familiar:
Gain adjusts the amount of overdrive, Tone shapes the overall brightness, and Level determines output volume.
There is enough output available to push an amplifier beyond unity gain, allowing the Ranger to double as an effective boost.
9V or 12V Operation
The Ranger can operate from either 9V or 12V DC. Running the pedal at 12V provides increased headroom, which can be useful for players looking for a more open and dynamic response.
Who Is It For?
The Maestro Ranger Overdrive is ideal for guitarists looking for an expressive, versatile drive pedal that can move between clean boosting, edge-of-breakup sounds and richer overdrive.
It is particularly well suited to blues, classic rock, indie, alternative, country and roots styles, and works effectively both into clean amplifiers and as a boost for an already driven valve amp.

FAQs
What type of pedal is the Maestro Ranger?
The Ranger is an all-analogue overdrive designed to produce responsive, amplifier-inspired drive tones.
What controls does it have?
It features Gain, Tone and Level controls plus a Hi/Lo mode switch.
What does the Gain control do?
Gain adjusts the amount of overdrive, allowing the pedal to move from light breakup through to richer driven sounds.
What does the Tone control do?
Tone adjusts the overall brightness of the overdrive, helping the Ranger work with different guitars and amplifiers.
What does the Level control do?
Level controls the overall output volume of the pedal.
What does the Hi/Lo switch do?
The switch selects between two different overdrive responses, including a warmer amp-like drive and a cleaner, more touch-sensitive voicing that blends in some dry signal.
Can the Ranger be used as a boost?
Yes. The pedal has enough available output to push the input of an amplifier harder, making it useful as a boost as well as an overdrive.
Does it respond to picking dynamics?
Yes. The Ranger is designed to respond to changes in pick attack, particularly when using its cleaner, touch-sensitive voicing.
Does it clean up with the guitar volume control?
Yes. Reducing the guitar's volume can clean up the response and reduce the amount of drive.
Is it suitable as an always-on pedal?
Yes. Its cleaner voicing is particularly useful for adding subtle character and responsiveness while remaining engaged for longer periods.
Does it use true bypass?
Yes. The Ranger features true-bypass switching.
Can it run from a battery?
Yes. It can operate from a standard 9V battery.
Can it run at 12V?
Yes. Maestro specifies operation from 9–12V DC, with 12V providing increased headroom.
How much current does it draw?
Current consumption is approximately 30.4mA.
Is a power supply included?
No. No power supply is included with this used Ranger Overdrive.
What condition is this example in?
This example is graded Good, with cosmetic signs of previous use consistent with a pre-owned effects pedal.
