What Makes the Nobels ODR-1 Special?
Natural, Open Overdrive
The ODR-1 is designed to retain the fundamental character of the guitar and amplifier rather than imposing an excessively compressed or heavily mid-focused sound.
Its wide frequency response gives chords plenty of body while helping individual notes remain clear, making the pedal equally effective for rhythm and lead playing.
Unique Spectrum Control
Instead of a conventional single-band Tone control, the ODR-1 uses Nobels' distinctive Spectrum control.
Turning Spectrum clockwise increases both the bass and treble response while leaving the middle frequencies relatively unaffected. Lower settings produce warmer, smoother tones, while higher settings create a broader and more assertive response.
Dynamic Drive Response
The ODR-1 responds well to playing dynamics and changes to the guitar's volume control. Lighter picking and reduced guitar volume can produce cleaner sounds, while stronger attack pushes the pedal into richer overdrive.
Useful Boost Capability
With the Drive control reduced and Level increased, the ODR-1 can also function as a boost, pushing the front end of an amplifier or another gain pedal harder.
Who Is It For?
The Nobels ODR-1 is ideal for guitarists who want a versatile overdrive that retains low-end body and reacts naturally to their playing.
It is particularly popular for blues, country, rock, roots, Americana and session-style guitar work, and works effectively with both single-coil and humbucker-equipped instruments.

Detailed Features & Benefits
Drive Control
Drive adjusts the amount of gain and saturation, ranging from mild crunch and pushed-amplifier textures through to fuller overdrive suitable for rhythm and lead sounds.
Spectrum Control
Spectrum simultaneously shapes the low and high frequencies. Lower settings create a warmer, mid-focused response, while increasing the control opens up the bass and treble for a broader sound.
Level Control
Level determines the overall output volume and provides enough adjustment for matching bypass level or pushing an amplifier harder.
Buffered Bypass
The ODR-1 uses a buffered signal path when bypassed, helping maintain signal strength through longer cable runs and larger pedalboards.
Remote Switching
A dedicated Remote connection allows the pedal's effect switching to be controlled from a compatible external momentary footswitch or switching system.

FAQs
What type of pedal is the Nobels ODR-1?
The ODR-1 is an analogue overdrive designed to produce natural, dynamic gain sounds while retaining plenty of low-end body.
What does the Drive control do?
Drive adjusts the amount of overdrive, ranging from light breakup through to thicker saturated sounds.
What does the Spectrum control do?
Spectrum adjusts bass and treble together while making relatively little change to the middle frequencies.
How is Spectrum different from a normal Tone control?
A conventional Tone control often shifts the balance between bass and treble. Spectrum instead broadens or reduces the high- and low-frequency content together, giving the ODR-1 its distinctive response.
Can the ODR-1 be used as a clean boost?
Yes. Reducing Drive and increasing Level allows it to push an amplifier or another pedal with relatively little additional distortion.
Does it respond to guitar volume?
Yes. The ODR-1 is well known for responding dynamically when the guitar's volume control is reduced.
Is it suitable for single-coil guitars?
Yes. Its full frequency response works particularly well with single-coil-equipped guitars and can add body without sacrificing clarity.
Does it work with humbuckers?
Yes. The Spectrum control provides useful flexibility for balancing the fuller response of humbucker-equipped instruments.
Is it good for country guitar?
Yes. The ODR-1 has become particularly popular for country and session-style playing because of its dynamic response and natural tonal balance.
Is it suitable for blues and rock?
Yes. Increasing Drive provides warm crunch and sustaining overdrive suitable for blues, classic rock and roots-based styles.
Can it push a valve amplifier?
Yes. Increasing the Level control can push the front end of a valve amplifier harder for additional natural breakup.
Does it use true bypass?
No. The standard ODR-1 uses buffered bypass.
What is the Remote jack for?
The Remote connection allows effect switching to be controlled using a compatible external momentary footswitch or switching system.
Can it run from a battery?
Yes. It accepts a standard 9V battery.
How much current does it draw?
Current consumption is approximately 11mA.
Is a power supply included?
No. No power supply is included with this used ODR-1.
What condition is this example in?
This example is graded Good, with cosmetic signs of previous use consistent with a pre-owned effects pedal.
