The Yamaha YDP-S36WH Arius Digital Piano Bundle in White combines Yamaha’s slimline 88-note home digital piano with a coordinated Stagg PBF39 WHM VWH adjustable piano bench and Yamaha HPH-50WH headphones.

At the centre of the package is the Yamaha YDP-S36WH Arius Digital Piano in White.

Designed for homes where floor space matters, the YDP-S36 uses an exceptionally slim, contemporary cabinet while retaining the essential features needed for serious home piano practice.

Its 88-note Graded Hammer Standard – GHS keyboard provides graduated weighting across the keyboard, with a heavier feel towards the bass and progressively lighter response towards the treble.

The main piano Voice is sampled from Yamaha’s flagship CFX concert grand piano, while Virtual Resonance Modeling Lite – VRM Lite recreates elements of the complex sympathetic resonance produced as the strings, keys and pedals of an acoustic grand interact.

The YDP-S36 also provides 192-note polyphony, 10 Voices, 353 preset Songs, three pedals with half-pedalling, two-track MIDI recording, Bluetooth Audio and MIDI, 24-bit USB audio, Smart Pianist compatibility and Stereophonic Optimizer. Yamaha’s 8W × 2 amplification drives twin 12cm speakers with diffuser grilles.

This Fair Deal Music bundle then completes the setup with two carefully coordinated accessories.

The Stagg PBF39 WHM VWH adjustable bench uses a white finish with a white velvet top, while the Yamaha HPH-50WH headphones continue the white colour theme and provide a convenient private-practice solution.

For beginners, students, families, returning pianists and anyone working with a smaller room, this creates a practical and visually cohesive complete home-piano package.

WHY THIS BUNDLE MAKES SENSE

The YDP-S36WH is designed for customers who want a proper 88-note home piano without committing as much floor space to a traditional cabinet.

This bundle takes that practical idea a step further.

The slimline Yamaha cabinet reduces the physical footprint.

The adjustable Stagg bench gives the pianist a proper dedicated playing position.

The Yamaha HPH-50WH headphones allow quiet practice whenever the internal speakers would be inconvenient.

And because the piano, bench and headphones all use light White finishes, the package feels cohesive rather than assembled from unrelated accessories.

It is particularly practical for:

• Flats and apartments

• Bedrooms

• Smaller living rooms

• Family homes

• Piano students

• Shared accommodation

• Evening practice

• Early-morning practice

• Contemporary interiors

YAMAHA YDP-S36WH – THE SLIMLINE ARIUS

The defining feature of the YDP-S36 is its cabinet.

Yamaha designed it to provide the essentials of a full 88-note Arius piano in a slim, compact and contemporary format.

When the keyboard lid is closed, the cabinet takes on a flatter appearance that allows it to blend more naturally into modern living spaces. Yamaha specifically highlights its suitability for apartments, living rooms and other home environments where space matters.

JUST 296MM DEEP

One of the most useful specifications of the YDP-S36 is its depth.

With the key cover closed, the cabinet measures approximately:

296mm deep

That is less than 30cm.

With the key cover open, Yamaha specifies approximately:

309mm

With the supplied anti-fall brackets attached, the overall installation depth becomes approximately:

366mm.

For customers comparing digital pianos for smaller rooms, this is a major practical advantage.

88-NOTE GRADED HAMMER STANDARD KEYBOARD

The YDP-S36WH uses Yamaha’s Graded Hammer Standard – GHS keyboard.

The action is weighted:

• Heavier towards the bass

• Progressively lighter towards the treble

This reflects the broad weighting relationship found across an acoustic piano.

For developing pianists, a full 88-note weighted action allows technique, fingering, dynamics and repertoire to be practised across the correct keyboard range.

Yamaha also highlights improved sensor response for intricate playing such as grace notes and trills.

MATT BLACK KEYTOPS

Yamaha specifies matt black keytops on the YDP-S36.

The non-gloss surface provides a more tactile feel while keeping the GHS action simple and familiar.

YAMAHA CFX CONCERT GRAND PIANO VOICE

The main piano Voice is sampled from Yamaha’s flagship CFX concert grand piano.

The CFX provides a rich tonal foundation across the entire keyboard, making the YDP-S36 well suited to:

• Piano lessons

• Grade repertoire

• Classical practice

• Contemporary piano

• Everyday recreational playing

Yamaha describes the CFX Voice as offering expressive tonal colour from treble to bass.

VIRTUAL RESONANCE MODELING LITE – VRM LITE

An acoustic grand piano produces complex resonance as strings interact with one another and respond to pedal use.

Yamaha’s Virtual Resonance Modeling Lite – VRM Lite recreates elements of these interactions digitally.

The resulting resonance changes according to the keys being played and pedal position, creating a more connected piano sound than isolated sample playback alone.

192-NOTE POLYPHONY

The YDP-S36 provides 192-note maximum polyphony.

This gives the instrument plenty of capacity for:

• Normal piano repertoire

• Sustain-heavy passages

• Layered Voices

• MIDI playback

• Detailed pedalling

10 BUILT-IN VOICES

The YDP-S36 includes 10 instrument Voices.

Yamaha highlights sounds including:

• Grand piano

• Electric piano

• Pipe organ

• Vibraphone

• Strings

The instrument remains fundamentally piano-focused, while these additional sounds provide useful variety.

DUAL MODE

Dual mode allows two Voices to be layered across the keyboard.

For example:

Piano + Strings

This can create a broader combined texture.

DUO MODE

Duo divides the keyboard into two equivalent pitch ranges.

This is especially useful for:

• Teacher and student

• Parent and child

• Piano lessons

• Demonstrating fingering

• Side-by-side practice

THREE-PEDAL SYSTEM

The YDP-S36 provides:

• Damper

• Sostenuto

• Soft

The damper pedal supports half-pedalling, allowing the amount of sustain to vary according to pedal depth.

8W × 2 AMPLIFICATION

The YDP-S36 uses:

8W × 2 amplification

driving:

12cm speakers with diffuser grilles × 2.

No external amplification is required for normal home practice.

DIFFUSER GRILLE SPEAKER DESIGN

Yamaha’s diffuser grille is designed to improve the way higher frequencies spread into the room.

Yamaha states that the updated design helps treble notes remain clearer at a distance and creates a more balanced sound field for both pianist and listener.

INTELLIGENT ACOUSTIC CONTROL

Intelligent Acoustic Control – IAC helps maintain tonal balance as the master volume is reduced.

This is especially useful for home playing, where digital pianos are often used at moderate or low volume.

PRIVATE HEADPHONE PRACTICE

The YDP-S36 provides two standard stereo headphone outputs.

This bundle already includes Yamaha HPH-50WH headphones, so quiet practice is available immediately.

This can be invaluable when:

• Practising late at night

• Practising early in the morning

• Living in a flat

• Sharing accommodation

• Other family members need a quiet room

STEREOPHONIC OPTIMIZER

Yamaha’s Stereophonic Optimizer creates a more spacious impression during headphone practice.

Rather than making the piano sound appear to originate entirely inside the headphones, the processing is designed to recreate more of the natural spatial spread experienced when sitting at an acoustic piano.

BLUETOOTH AUDIO & MIDI

Yamaha’s detailed specification confirms:

Bluetooth Audio & MIDI

subject to regional availability.

BLUETOOTH AUDIO

Compatible audio can be streamed wirelessly through the piano’s speaker system.

Useful applications include:

• Playing along with recordings

• Backing tracks

• Reference performances

• General music playback

BLUETOOTH MIDI

Bluetooth MIDI allows wireless MIDI communication with compatible learning and music applications.

SMART PIANIST

The YDP-S36 supports Yamaha’s Smart Pianist app.

Yamaha highlights benefits including:

• Simplified controls

• Sheet music for all 353 preset Songs

• Practice-support tools

• Recording and saving performances

• Wireless Bluetooth connection on compatible devices

353 PRESET SONGS

The YDP-S36 includes:

• 10 Voice Demo Songs

• 50 Classics

• 303 Lesson Songs

The lesson material includes repertoire and exercises associated with established teaching methods such as Beyer, Burgmüller, Czerny and Hanon.

TWO-TRACK MIDI RECORDING

The onboard MIDI recorder provides:

• 1 User Song

• 2 tracks

• Approx. 150KB per Song

• Approx. 11,000 notes

This can be useful for:

• Practice review

• Recording hands separately

• Playing along with a previously recorded part

• Checking timing and dynamics

24-BIT USB AUDIO INTERFACE

The YDP-S36 provides:

44.1kHz / 24-bit stereo USB audio.

This enables digital audio communication with compatible computers and devices for:

• Recording

• Online lessons

• Music software

• Learning applications

• Digital practice workflows

STAGG PBF39 WHM VWH ADJUSTABLE PIANO BENCH

A suitable playing height can make a substantial difference to comfort and technique.

The included Stagg PBF39 WHM VWH provides a dedicated adjustable seat rather than forcing the player to rely on unsuitable household furniture.

Stagg currently lists the exact PBF39 WHM VWH as a piano bench with white velvet top, while current UK retail information lists approximately 49–59cm height adjustment.

WHY AN ADJUSTABLE BENCH MATTERS

Correct seating position can affect:

• Wrist angle

• Forearm height

• Hand position

• Shoulder comfort

• Pedal access

• General posture

This is particularly important for:

• Growing students

• Children

• Families

• Shared pianos

• Teacher/student use

YAMAHA HPH-50WH HEADPHONES

The included Yamaha HPH-50WH headphones in White provide a lightweight closed-back option suited to digital-piano practice.

Yamaha describes the HPH-50 as a compact headphone with carefully balanced bass and treble reproduction.

38MM DRIVERS

Each earcup uses a 38mm dynamic driver.

ADJUSTABLE FIT

The HPH-50WH features:

• Adjustable headband

• 90-degree swivelling earcups

This allows the headphones to adapt comfortably to different users.

2-METRE CABLE

The 2m cable gives useful freedom of movement while seated at the piano.

HOW IT COMPARES

YDP-S36 vs YDP-146

The YDP-S36 and YDP-146 share much of the same core piano specification.

Both provide:

• 88-note GHS keyboard

• Matt black keytops

• Yamaha CFX Voice

• VRM Lite

• 192-note polyphony

• 10 Voices

• 353 preset Songs

• Three pedals

• Half-pedalling

• 2-track recording

• 24-bit USB audio

• 8W × 2 amplification

• 12cm diffuser speakers

• Bluetooth Audio & MIDI

• Smart Pianist

The major difference is cabinet design.

YDP-146

• Traditional upright-style Arius cabinet

• 422mm deep

• 38kg

YDP-S36

• Slimline contemporary cabinet

• 296mm deep with cover closed

• 37kg

For customers where room space matters, the difference is significant.

The YDP-S56 is the natural step-up slimline Arius model.

YDP-S36

• GHS keyboard

• Matt black keytops

• 8W × 2 amplification

• 37kg

YDP-S56

• GrandTouch-E keyboard

🎵 FAIR DEAL MUSIC EXPERT VERDICT ★★★★★

Best suited for: Beginners, students, returning pianists and families who want a proper 88-note Yamaha home piano but need something significantly slimmer than a conventional cabinet digital piano.

Likely upgrade path: Particularly relevant for players moving from portable keyboards who now want integrated pedals and a permanent home-piano setup without sacrificing too much room.

Useful pairings: Yamaha Smart Pianist on a compatible smartphone or tablet adds convenient wireless control, scores and learning functions.

Our tip: The key specification here isn't just the GHS keyboard or CFX sound — it's the 296mm cabinet depth. If you're choosing between the YDP-S36 and YDP-146, physically measure the room. The S36 is around 126mm shallower before anti-fall bracket allowance, which can make a surprisingly big difference in a smaller space.

FDM view: The YDP-S36WH is a particularly sensible option where the customer wants a proper Yamaha Arius but doesn't want a traditional upright-style cabinet dominating the room. The piano retains the CFX Voice, VRM Lite, 192-note polyphony, three pedals, Bluetooth and Smart Pianist, while the white bench and headphones make this a genuinely complete and coordinated package.
