The 1990 Gibson ES-335 Figured is a semi-hollow electric guitar constructed using a laminated maple body with a solid maple centre block running through the middle. This design reduces feedback while maintaining the acoustic resonance characteristic of the ES series. Figured models from this period feature flamed maple laminates on the top, back, and sides, combined with a set mahogany neck joined using a traditional glued neck joint.

The guitar has a rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets, dot position inlays, a 24.75-inch scale length, and a nut width of approximately 1.69 inches. Electronics include two Gibson humbucking pickups wired through the standard ES-335 configuration of two volume controls, two tone controls, and a three-way pickup selector switch.
