The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 1st Generation is a compact USB audio interface designed for home recording, portable production, and direct instrument tracking. It features two Focusrite Scarlett microphone preamps with combination XLR/TRS inputs capable of handling microphone, line-level, and instrument signals within the same front-panel input section.

The interface supports 24-bit audio conversion with sample rates up to 96 kHz and connects through USB bus power without requiring an external power supply. The chassis uses an anodized red aluminium enclosure with direct monitoring capability for low-latency tracking during recording sessions. Separate gain controls and halo-style input indicators provide visual monitoring of signal level and clipping status.

The front panel includes two combo inputs, gain controls, instrument switches, direct monitor activation, headphone output, and monitor level control. The rear panel provides balanced TRS monitor outputs for studio speakers.
