What Makes the Schecter SLS Evil Twin-4 Special?

The SLS Evil Twin-4 combines premium construction with a particularly streamlined playing feel. Its Maple/Walnut/Padauk multi-ply neck runs continuously through the swamp ash body and incorporates carbon-fibre reinforcement rods for additional stability. Schecter’s Thin “C” profile measures approximately 20mm at the first fret and 22mm at the twelfth, while the flat 16" radius ebony fingerboard and 24 X-Jumbo stainless-steel frets provide a smooth, precise surface for everything from traditional bass lines to fast technical playing.

Its Fishman electronics are a major part of the appeal. The two Fishman Fluence Bass Soapbar pickups offer three selectable voices – Classic, Funk and Modern – alongside pickup blending, a push/pull single-coil function and active bass and treble EQ. This gives the SLS Evil Twin-4 the flexibility to move from warmer traditional bass sounds through to articulate, aggressive contemporary tones without relying on external processing.

Who Is It For?

The Schecter SLS Evil Twin-4 is particularly well suited to intermediate, advanced and professional bassists who want a premium four-string with modern construction and extensive tonal control.

Its combination of Fishman electronics, stainless-steel frets and fast neck makes it particularly capable for rock, metal, progressive music, funk, fusion, alternative styles, recording and live performance, while the familiar 34" scale makes it accessible to players moving from a conventional four-string bass.

Why Choose A Multi-Voice Active Bass?

A conventional passive bass often provides a strong core tone with relatively simple onboard adjustment. An active multi-voice instrument offers considerably more control before the signal even reaches an amplifier or pedalboard.

The SLS Evil Twin-4 provides three fundamental pickup voicings alongside active EQ and pickup blending, allowing the instrument to adapt quickly to different songs, amplifiers and playing techniques. This can be particularly useful for session musicians, covers players and bassists who need several distinct sounds during a single performance.

How Does It Compare?

Compared With A Traditional Passive 4-String

A traditional passive bass typically prioritises simplicity, with basic volume and tone controls. The SLS Evil Twin-4 adds multi-voice Fishman pickups, active EQ, pickup blending and single-coil switching, making it significantly more flexible for players who want to shape their sound directly from the instrument.

Compared With The SLS Evil Twin-5

The four-string version uses a familiar 34" scale and traditional four-string range, while the five-string model extends to a 35" scale and adds a low B string. The SLS Evil Twin-4 is therefore the more natural choice for players who prefer conventional four-string spacing and range while retaining the premium SLS specification.
