Casio CDP-S100 Compact Digital Piano (Used)
Description
The Casio CDP-S100 is a slim, straightforward 88-key digital piano designed for players who want a proper weighted piano-style keyboard without giving up a large amount of floor space.
Its Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard II gives you the full 88-key range and a weighted response that feels far closer to an acoustic piano than a lightweight portable keyboard. At the same time, the exceptionally slim cabinet is only 232 mm deep and weighs approximately 10.5 kg, making the CDP-S100 particularly easy to accommodate at home, in a teaching room or as part of a portable practice setup.
This Pre-Owned Casio CDP-S100 in Black is in excellent condition, has been fully tested and is working correctly. It also comes with its original box and all originally supplied accessories, making this a particularly complete second-hand example.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT
A Proper 88-Key Piano Feel Without the Bulk
The CDP-S100's biggest attraction is simple: you get a full 88-note weighted keyboard in a remarkably compact cabinet.
For beginners, that means learning on the correct keyboard range rather than eventually having to adjust from a smaller 61 or 76-key instrument.
For existing players, it gives you a practical piano that can fit into spaces where a larger cabinet-style digital piano may simply be inconvenient.
Weighted Keys That Respond to Your Playing
Casio's Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard II is designed to reproduce the weighted response associated with an acoustic piano.
Touch sensitivity means the instrument responds to how firmly you play. Play gently and the sound responds more softly; increase your playing force and the piano responds with greater presence.
There are three selectable touch-response settings as well as an Off setting, allowing the keyboard response to be adjusted to suit the player.
Simple Rather Than Overcomplicated
The CDP-S100 is not designed around hundreds of buttons, rhythms and menus.
Instead, its 10 onboard tones cover the sounds needed for everyday playing while keeping the instrument easy to understand.
That makes it particularly appealing for piano students or home players who want to switch on, choose a sound and start playing without navigating a complicated control panel.
Built-In Speakers for Everyday Practice
The internal stereo speaker system uses two oval 12 cm × 6 cm speakers powered by 8 watts + 8 watts of amplification.
That means you do not need an external amplifier for ordinary home practice.
For quieter playing, the dedicated PHONES/OUTPUT connection allows headphones to be used, making late-night or shared-house practice considerably easier.
Mains or Battery Powered
One of the CDP-S100's more unusual advantages for an 88-key hammer-action digital piano is its ability to operate from either the supplied AC adaptor or six AA alkaline batteries.
Battery life is rated at approximately 13 hours under the specified operating conditions.
That gives the CDP-S100 considerably more placement flexibility than a digital piano that must always be positioned beside a mains socket.
DETAILED FEATURES & BENEFITS
Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard II
The keyboard is the heart of any digital piano, and the CDP-S100 uses Casio's Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard II.
The important difference compared with a conventional portable keyboard is resistance beneath the fingers. Rather than the very light spring-loaded feel of many entry-level keyboards, the CDP-S100 is intended to give the player the sense of controlling a piano action.
For somebody learning correct piano technique, this is particularly important. Finger strength, dynamics and control develop differently on a weighted keyboard.
You also retain the complete 88-key range, so there is no restriction when progressing into more demanding piano repertoire.
10 Built-In Tones
The CDP-S100 provides 10 onboard sounds, including its core piano voices.
This is deliberately a focused sound set rather than an enormous library of voices. For players primarily interested in piano practice, that simplicity can actually be an advantage.
The Layer function also allows two compatible sounds to be played together, creating a fuller combined texture where required.
64-Note Polyphony
The instrument offers 64-note maximum polyphony.
Polyphony describes how many notes the digital piano can generate simultaneously, including notes that continue sounding through sustain.
For normal home piano practice, lessons and general performance, 64-note polyphony provides useful headroom while using the sustain pedal or playing chords across a wide keyboard range.
Reverb and Chorus
Four types of reverb and four types of chorus are provided.
Reverb can add a greater sense of room or space to the sound, while chorus can add width and movement to suitable tones.
These effects allow you to adjust the character of the instrument without turning the CDP-S100 into an unnecessarily complicated workstation.
Built-In Metronome
A metronome is included for structured practice, with selectable beat settings and a tempo range from 20 to 255 BPM.
For students in particular, practising with a metronome helps develop consistent timing and makes it easier to identify passages where tempo begins to drift.
Useful Connectivity
The CDP-S100 includes:
-
USB Type-B
-
USB MIDI functionality
-
3.5 mm stereo Audio In
-
3.5 mm stereo Phones/Output
-
6.3 mm damper pedal connection
The USB connection allows MIDI communication with compatible computers and devices, making the CDP-S100 useful not only as a standalone piano but also as an 88-key controller for suitable music software.
Casio also lists the CDP-S100 for connection with its supported music-app ecosystem, subject to having the appropriate compatible device and connection method.
Compact Construction
At approximately:
1322 mm wide × 232 mm deep × 99 mm high
the CDP-S100 is extremely shallow for a full-sized 88-key hammer-action piano.
Its weight of approximately 10.5 kg without batteries also makes it considerably easier to reposition than a traditional furniture-style digital piano.
That can be especially useful for:
-
Bedrooms
-
Flats
-
Student accommodation
-
Teaching rooms
-
Occasional rehearsal setups
-
Multi-purpose living spaces
WHO IS IT FOR?
The Casio CDP-S100 is particularly well suited to:
Beginners learning piano
The 88-note weighted keyboard gives a much more appropriate foundation for piano technique than a small non-weighted keyboard.
Students progressing from a portable keyboard
If you've started on a 61-key keyboard and are now finding the keyboard size or light action restrictive, the CDP-S100 represents a logical next step.
Home players with limited space
Its 232 mm depth makes it unusually easy to accommodate.
Players wanting uncomplicated controls
If you mainly want to play piano rather than spend time programming sounds and accompaniment functions, the simple CDP-S100 layout makes a lot of sense.
Musicians needing a movable 88-key instrument
At around 10.5 kg, it is relatively manageable for a full-size hammer-action digital piano.
Value-conscious buyers
Buying this example Pre-Owned allows you to access the fundamentals of an 88-key hammer-action Casio digital piano while benefiting from a complete, tested instrument with its original box and accessories.
PLAYING STYLES & APPLICATIONS
The CDP-S100 works particularly well for:
-
Classical piano study
-
Contemporary piano
-
Pop and rock keyboard parts
-
Ballads
-
Songwriting
-
Music lessons
-
Grade practice
-
Home rehearsal
-
Accompaniment
-
Quiet headphone practice
-
Basic computer MIDI use
-
Music-theory study
Its design is firmly centred around piano playing rather than arranger-keyboard features, making it particularly suitable for customers whose priority is keyboard feel and straightforward practice.
HOW IT COMPARES
The CDP-S100 makes most sense when compared with two broad types of instrument.
Versus a 61-Key Portable Keyboard
A typical portable keyboard may offer considerably more sounds, rhythms and automatic accompaniment features.
The CDP-S100 instead gives you 88 full-size weighted keys and a much more piano-focused playing experience.
If your priority is learning or playing piano, the CDP-S100 is usually the more appropriate format.
If your priority is hundreds of sounds, backing styles and arranger functions, a portable arranger keyboard may be more suitable.
Versus Newer Digital Pianos
More recent digital-piano designs can offer additional sounds, connectivity options and newer feature sets.
The attraction of this Pre-Owned CDP-S100 is therefore not having the longest specification sheet. It is the combination of a full 88-key hammer-action keyboard, compact dimensions, built-in speakers, battery operation and straightforward controls at a potentially attractive pre-owned price point.
For someone who wants the fundamentals of a digital piano rather than a long list of additional technology, that remains a very sensible combination.

🎵 FAIR DEAL MUSIC EXPERT VERDICT ★★★★★
The Casio CDP-S100 gets the fundamentals right: 88 weighted keys, a slim cabinet, built-in speakers and uncomplicated operation.
Its standout feature is really the packaging of a hammer-action keyboard into a body only 232 mm deep. For homes where space is restricted, that can be every bit as important as another dozen sounds or extra menu functions.
This particular Pre-Owned example is especially appealing because it is in excellent condition, fully tested and working, and comes complete with its original box and originally supplied accessories.
Best suited for: Beginners, piano students, home players and anyone needing a compact 88-key weighted digital piano.
Customers usually upgrade from: 61-key portable keyboards, non-weighted keyboards or older entry-level digital pianos.
Most commonly paired with: A sturdy keyboard stand, adjustable piano bench and a good pair of headphones.
Our tip: If space is the main concern, take particular note of the CDP-S100's 232 mm cabinet depth. It provides a genuine full-sized piano keyboard while taking up remarkably little front-to-back space.
Showroom feedback: The slim dimensions and manageable weight are among the CDP-S100's strongest practical qualities. It gives the player a full 88-key hammer-action format without creating the physical footprint associated with a traditional cabinet digital piano.
