Description

Quick Product Summary

The Electro-Harmonix Stereo Pulsar is an analogue variable-shape tremolo pedal capable of everything from smooth vintage-style pulses to sharper, more dramatic rhythmic modulation.

This used example is in Good condition, with cosmetic signs of previous ownership and normal pedalboard use. Rate, Depth and Shape controls provide extensive adjustment, while selectable Triangle and Square wave modes dramatically expand the range of available tremolo textures.

Connect both outputs and the Stereo Pulsar also becomes a stereo panner, moving the signal rhythmically between two amplifiers or mixer channels.

What Makes the Electro-Harmonix Stereo Pulsar Special?

Variable Waveform Control

The Stereo Pulsar goes considerably further than a basic Rate-and-Depth tremolo. Its Shape control and Triangle/Square selector allow the modulation waveform itself to be altered.

In Triangle mode, the waveform can move between rising sawtooth, smooth triangle and falling sawtooth shapes. Square mode provides more abrupt volume changes, with adjustable pulse width for sharper rhythmic effects.

From Smooth to Choppy Tremolo

Triangle settings are ideal for warm, flowing amplifier-style tremolo, while Square mode delivers more pronounced on/off modulation. This gives the Stereo Pulsar enough range for subtle vintage sounds as well as experimental rhythmic textures.

Stereo Panning

When both outputs are connected, the Stereo Pulsar can move the signal between two amplifiers or channels. As one side rises in level, the other falls, producing a wide and highly animated stereo effect.

Unusual High-Depth Sounds

Beyond its conventional tremolo range, turning the Depth control past its maximum conventional setting introduces more unusual phase-related rhythmic modulation, making the Stereo Pulsar capable of considerably more experimental sounds.

Who Is It For?

The Electro-Harmonix Stereo Pulsar is ideal for guitarists looking for more control than a traditional two-knob tremolo provides.

It works particularly well for surf, blues, indie, alternative, psychedelic, ambient, experimental and vintage-inspired guitar, while stereo users can take advantage of its dramatic panning effects across two amplifiers or recording channels.

FAQs

What type of pedal is the Electro-Harmonix Stereo Pulsar?

The Stereo Pulsar is an analogue tremolo pedal with extensive waveform shaping and stereo panning capabilities.

What controls does it have?

It features Rate, Depth and Shape controls plus a Triangle/Square waveform selector.

What does the Rate control do?

Rate adjusts how quickly the tremolo or stereo panning effect cycles.

What does the Depth control do?

Depth determines how strongly the signal level is modulated, ranging from subtle movement to deep tremolo.

What does the Shape control do?

Shape alters the actual waveform used to modulate the signal, providing considerably more control than a conventional tremolo pedal.

What does Triangle mode sound like?

Triangle mode provides smoother modulation and can be varied between rising sawtooth, triangle and falling sawtooth shapes.

What does Square mode sound like?

Square mode produces sharper, more abrupt volume changes and allows the pulse width to be altered for different rhythmic effects.

Can it produce vintage-style tremolo?

Yes. Triangle mode with moderate Rate and Depth settings can produce smooth, traditional amplifier-style tremolo sounds.

Can it produce choppy tremolo?

Yes. Square Wave mode is particularly useful for more abrupt, rhythmic and stuttering modulation.

Is the Stereo Pulsar actually stereo?

It has a mono input and two outputs. When both are connected, the effect can pan the signal back and forth between two amplifiers or mixer channels.

Can I use it with just one amplifier?

Yes. Use the Main Output for normal mono tremolo operation.

Does the LED follow the tremolo speed?

Yes. When the pedal is active, the status LED flashes in time with the modulation rate.

Is the circuit analogue?

Yes. Electro-Harmonix specifies the Stereo Pulsar as an analogue circuit.

Does it use true bypass?

No. The Stereo Pulsar uses buffered bypass.

Can it run from a battery?

Yes. It supports a standard 9V battery.

How much current does it draw?

Electro-Harmonix specifies a current draw of approximately 17mA.

Is the Stereo Pulsar still in production?

No. Electro-Harmonix lists the Stereo Pulsar as discontinued, with production ending in 2025.

Is a power supply included?

No. No power supply is included with this used pedal.

What condition is this example in?

This example is graded Good, with cosmetic signs of previous use consistent with a pre-owned effects pedal.
