Fender American Acoustasonic Stratocaster Natural, (Used)
Description
The Fender American Acoustasonic Stratocaster in Natural is a highly versatile USA-made hybrid guitar designed to move convincingly between acoustic and electric territory from one lightweight instrument.
Its hollow mahogany body and solid Sitka spruce top provide genuine unplugged resonance, while Fender and Fishman’s Acoustic Engine combines an under-saddle pickup, internal body sensor and magnetic pickup to produce a broad selection of acoustic and electric-inspired sounds.
A mahogany Modern Deep “C” neck, ebony fingerboard, 25.5" scale and 22 narrow-tall frets give the guitar a playing feel much closer to a modern Fender electric than a conventional full-depth acoustic.
This pre-owned example is presented in Very Good Condition, showing some cosmetic wear consistent with careful previous ownership. A gigbag is included.

What Makes The American Acoustasonic Stratocaster Special?
The American Acoustasonic Stratocaster is not simply an acoustic guitar made in a Strat shape. Its body, sound port and electronics were designed specifically to bridge the gap between acoustic and electric performance.
Fender’s patented Stringed Instrument Resonance System – SIRS allows the hollow body to produce a genuine acoustic voice without amplification, while the Fender/Fishman Acoustic Engine expands that foundation into ten selectable and blendable amplified voices. The result is particularly useful for performers who would otherwise need to change between acoustic and electric guitars during a set.
Key Features & Benefits
Solid Sitka Spruce Top
The Acoustasonic uses a solid Sitka spruce soundboard rather than relying entirely on solidbody construction.
This contributes to:
- Genuine unplugged resonance
- Dynamic acoustic response
- Clear projection
- Natural string detail
- More authentic acoustic behaviour
Hollow Mahogany Body
The mahogany body is internally hollow and significantly thinner than a conventional acoustic guitar.
This gives the player:
- Natural acoustic volume
- Lightweight feel
- Comfortable Strat-inspired ergonomics
- Reduced bulk compared with a full-depth acoustic
- Familiar electric-guitar playing position
WaterFall Sound Port & SIRS
The distinctive central sound port forms part of Fender’s patented Stringed Instrument Resonance System.
Rather than functioning purely as a decorative soundhole, it is integral to how the compact hollow body projects and shapes its acoustic response.
Fender/Fishman Acoustic Engine
The onboard electronics combine three sound sources:
- Fishman under-saddle transducer
- Internal body sensor
- Fender Acoustasonic Noiseless / N4 magnetic pickup
These are processed by the Acoustic Engine to create a range of acoustic and electric-inspired sounds.
10 Blendable Voices
The 5-way selector provides five pairs of sounds.
The Blend/Mod control moves between or combines the two voices assigned to each position, effectively providing 10 core voices plus blended variations.
This can cover sounds inspired by:
- Larger acoustic bodies
- Smaller concert acoustics
- Different tonewood combinations
- Percussive acoustic textures
- Magnetic electric-guitar sounds
- Blended acoustic/electric tones
Magnetic Pickup
The Acoustasonic Noiseless magnetic pickup allows the guitar to move beyond acoustic simulation and into more conventional electric territory.
It is particularly useful with:
- Overdrive
- Delay
- Modulation
- Ambient effects
- Rock rhythm sounds
- Blues
- Indie and alternative tones
Mahogany Modern Deep “C” Neck
The mahogany neck uses Fender’s Modern Deep “C” profile.
This gives the guitar a playing feel much closer to a premium Fender electric than a conventional acoustic neck, making transitions between electric and Acoustasonic particularly natural.
Ebony Fingerboard
The ebony fingerboard combines a smooth feel with a relatively flat 12" radius, making it particularly accommodating for bends, lead playing and contemporary techniques.
22 Narrow-Tall Frets
Narrow-tall fretwire provides additional height for clean fretting and bends without using especially wide fret crowns.
Comparison Against Popular Alternatives
American Acoustasonic Stratocaster vs Conventional Electro Acoustic
A conventional electro acoustic usually provides greater unplugged volume and a more traditional acoustic body feel.
The Acoustasonic is considerably slimmer and more electric-guitar-like while offering a much broader range of amplified sounds.
Acoustasonic Stratocaster vs Standard Stratocaster
A conventional Strat is a dedicated solidbody electric guitar.
The Acoustasonic sacrifices the traditional three-electric-pickup layout in favour of a hybrid system capable of genuine acoustic resonance and multiple acoustic-inspired amplified sounds.
Acoustasonic Stratocaster vs Acoustasonic Telecaster
Both use the same underlying hybrid concept, but Fender developed the Stratocaster version with its own body resonance and collection of Acoustic Engine voices rather than simply fitting Strat styling to the Telecaster electronics.
Who Is It For?
Singer-songwriters – Particularly useful for performers who need both acoustic and electric textures from one instrument.
Gigging musicians – Reduces the need to transport and switch between multiple guitars during a set.
Studio players – Offers numerous contrasting textures for layering and arranging.
Electric guitarists who dislike bulky acoustics – The thin body and Fender neck feel provide a much more familiar playing experience.
Acoustic players wanting more tonal flexibility – The Acoustic Engine offers considerably more stage versatility than a conventional piezo-only system.
Effects users – The magnetic pickup and hybrid voices respond well to pedals and ambient processing.
Suitable Genres & Applications
Particularly well suited to:
- Singer-songwriter
- Acoustic pop
- Folk
- Americana
- Country
- Indie
- Alternative
- Rock
- Blues
- Worship
- Ambient music
- Studio recording
- Live performance
- Solo performance
- Duo work
- Looping
- Pedal-based rigs
Why Choose A Hybrid Acoustic-Electric Guitar?
A hybrid guitar is particularly useful when a conventional electric and a conventional acoustic would otherwise both be required.
The Acoustasonic can provide acoustic-style sounds for rhythm parts and singer-songwriter material, then move into magnetic pickup sounds for more electric sections without changing instruments.
That makes it an especially practical solution for:
- Covers sets
- Theatre work
- Church and worship performance
- Studio sessions
- Solo looping
- Multi-style bands
- Small-stage setups

Electronics & Voice System
The American Acoustasonic Stratocaster uses five switch positions, with two voices assigned to each.
Turning the Blend/Mod control moves between the two sounds and allows intermediate combinations.
The system is designed to cover both acoustic and electric territory rather than functioning like a conventional tone control.
Power Requirements
The Fender/Fishman Acoustic Engine uses an integrated rechargeable battery.
A full charge provides approximately 20 hours of playing time under normal conditions.
Charging is carried out through the USB charging connection integrated around the output-jack area.
No external power supply is included with this pre-owned guitar.
The guitar can still produce its natural unplugged acoustic sound without powered electronics, but the Acoustic Engine requires battery power for amplified operation.
Fair Deal Music Verdict
★★★★★ 5/5
The Fender American Acoustasonic Stratocaster in Natural is one of the most genuinely versatile guitars in Fender’s modern range.
Its solid spruce top, hollow mahogany body and SIRS sound port allow it to operate as a real acoustic instrument, while the Fender/Fishman Acoustic Engine provides an unusually wide collection of amplified sounds.
The Modern Deep “C” mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard and 25.5" scale also make it significantly easier for electric players to adapt to than a conventional acoustic guitar.
Presented in Very Good Condition and supplied with a gigbag, this is an excellent pre-owned choice for gigging musicians, singer-songwriters and studio players who want to cover acoustic and electric roles with one instrument.
