Description

Quick Product Summary

The Fender Rumble 100 V3 1x12 Bass Combo combines serious bass output, practical gigging features and remarkably manageable portability in a compact 100-watt Class-D amplifier.

At its heart is a 12-inch Eminence Special Design speaker housed in a lightweight ported plywood cabinet. The result is a bass combo with enough authority for rehearsals, home playing, recording and many smaller live situations without the size and weight traditionally associated with powerful bass amplification.

Tone shaping goes considerably further than a basic practice amp. Alongside a four-band EQ with Bass, Low-Mid, High-Mid and Treble, the Rumble 100 provides Bright, Contour and Vintage voicing switches, plus a dedicated onboard overdrive circuit with independent Drive and Level controls.

Add an XLR line output, effects loop, auxiliary input and headphone output, and the Rumble 100 V3 becomes a highly versatile step up for bassists who need something more capable than a small practice combo but still want an amp that's easy to transport.

Fair Deal Quality Control Assessment

Every new amplifier supplied by Fair Deal Music is checked before leaving us.

For the Fender Rumble 100 V3, our team checks the cabinet, speaker, input, controls, EQ section, selectable voicings, overdrive circuit and main connectivity to ensure the amplifier is operating as expected before dispatch.

This gives you additional confidence whether you're upgrading from your first practice amp or putting together a more capable rehearsal and performance setup.

Why Choose The Fender Rumble 100 V3?

100 Watts Of Portable Bass Power

The Rumble 100 delivers 100 watts of Class-D amplification, giving it significantly more headroom than a small home-practice combo while remaining compact enough for regular transport.

It's a strong middle ground for players who need enough output for rehearsals and smaller performance situations without immediately moving to a large bass rig.

12-Inch Eminence Special Design Speaker

Fender pairs the amplifier with a 12-inch Eminence Special Design speaker.

A 12-inch speaker provides a useful balance between low-frequency weight, punch and response, making the Rumble 100 suitable for a broad range of bass styles rather than pushing it strongly towards one particular type of player.

Bright, Contour & Vintage Voicing

Three dedicated voicing switches make broad tonal changes easy.

Bright adds extra high-frequency presence and definition.

Contour reshapes the midrange while emphasising the lows and highs for a fuller, more scooped sound.

Vintage gives the amp a darker, warmer character with additional harmonic richness and compression.

These can be used alongside the main EQ to create very different bass sounds without complicated digital menus.

Built-In Overdrive

The onboard Overdrive circuit gives you access to dirtier, more aggressive bass sounds without requiring a separate drive pedal.

Dedicated Drive and Level controls allow you to adjust the amount of distortion and balance the overdriven volume against your cleaner sound.

Four-Band EQ For More Precise Tone Shaping

Rather than a simple Bass/Mid/Treble arrangement, the Rumble 100 separates its middle frequencies into Low-Mid and High-Mid controls.

This is particularly useful for bass because the midrange has a major effect on how clearly an instrument cuts through a band mix. You can independently shape low-end weight, body, attack and upper-frequency definition.

Comparison Against Popular Alternatives

Fender Rumble 100 vs Fender Rumble 40

The Rumble 40 is lighter and more compact, producing 40 watts through a 10-inch Fender Special Design speaker. It shares many of the Rumble 100's core features, including overdrive, Bright, Contour and Vintage voicings and XLR output.

Choose the Rumble 40 for home use, recording and maximum portability. Choose the Rumble 100 when you want substantially more output, a larger 12-inch speaker and the addition of an effects loop.

Fender Rumble 100 vs Fender Rumble 200

The Rumble 200 moves further towards regular live performance with a 15-inch Eminence-designed speaker, compression horn and greater available power.

The Rumble 100 is considerably lighter at just under 10kg and suits bassists who prioritise portability while still needing meaningful rehearsal and stage capability. The Rumble 200 is better suited to players who need additional output and larger-speaker authority.

Fender Rumble 100 vs Fender Rumble LT25

The Rumble LT25 takes a completely different approach. It is a 25-watt digital modelling combo with multiple amp models, effects, presets, tuner, colour display and USB connectivity.

Choose the LT25 if home practice, modelling and effects experimentation are the priority. Choose the Rumble 100 if you want substantially greater output, physical tone controls and more conventional rehearsal and live connectivity.

Who Is The Fender Rumble 100 V3 For?

The Rumble 100 V3 is particularly well suited to:

  • Bassists upgrading from a small practice amplifier

  • Players beginning to rehearse with other musicians

  • Gigging bassists playing smaller venues

  • Musicians who need an XLR output for PA or recording connections

  • Bassists who use effects pedals

  • Players wanting built-in overdrive

  • Bassists who prefer physical controls instead of modelling menus

  • Musicians needing powerful amplification without excessive weight

  • Home players who want greater headroom and a larger speaker

  • Experienced bassists looking for a portable secondary combo

For many players, the Rumble 100 sits in an especially useful position between a dedicated bedroom amp and a much larger stage rig.

Suitable Genres & Applications

The Rumble 100's flexible EQ and voicing switches make it suitable for rock, pop, blues, funk, soul, indie, punk, alternative, country and general contemporary bass playing.

The Vintage setting is useful when you want a warmer, rounder response. Contour can create a bigger scooped tone for modern playing and slap techniques, while Bright adds additional attack and presence.

Its built-in overdrive also makes the amplifier particularly useful for rock, punk and alternative players who want more grit without immediately adding a separate drive pedal.

Is A 100-Watt Bass Amp Powerful Enough For Rehearsals & Gigs?

A 100-watt bass combo is a major step up from a small practice amplifier and can work very well for rehearsals and lower-volume live situations. How much volume you actually need depends on the drummer, guitar amplification, room size and style of music.

The Rumble 100 has another important advantage for live use: its balanced XLR line output allows the amplifier's signal to be sent to a PA or mixing system. This means the combo can act as your personal bass monitor while the venue's sound system handles front-of-house coverage.

For consistently loud bands and larger stages, the Rumble 200 or another higher-powered system may provide additional headroom.

Effects Loop, XLR Output & Practice Connectivity

The Rumble 100 offers significantly more connectivity than Fender's smaller practice-focused Rumble models.

The effects loop provides dedicated ¼-inch Send and Return connections, allowing compatible effects to be placed later in the amplifier's signal path instead of running everything directly between the bass and main input.

A balanced XLR line output makes connection to PA systems and recording equipment straightforward and includes useful Ground Lift and Pre/Post switching.

The auxiliary input is useful for practice with external audio, while the headphone output lets you practise privately when speaker volume isn't appropriate.

Story & Context

Fender's Rumble series was developed specifically for bass players who wanted powerful, usable amplification without the excessive size and weight traditionally associated with many bass rigs.

The third-generation Rumble range pushed that idea much further through lightweight cabinet construction and efficient amplification, while retaining physical controls and familiar Fender styling.

The Rumble 100 occupies an important position within that family. It adds significantly more power and connectivity than the smaller practice-oriented models without making the jump to the size and weight of the larger Rumble 200 and 500 systems.

That combination has made the 100-watt format especially useful for bassists moving from home practice into rehearsals, recording and live performance.

Footswitch Compatibility

The Rumble 100's overdrive circuit can be switched directly from the front panel or controlled using a compatible optional Fender one-button footswitch.

Compatible Fender options include:

  • 1-Button Economy Footswitch

  • 1-Button Vintage Footswitch

  • 1-Button LED Footswitch

A footswitch is particularly useful for live players who want to move between cleaner and overdriven bass sounds without reaching for the amplifier controls.

Power Requirements

The UK Fender Rumble 100 V3 is a 230V mains-powered bass amplifier.

It requires connection to a suitable UK mains supply and does not operate from batteries.

The Class-D power section contributes to the amplifier's comparatively low 9.98kg weight, making the Rumble 100 significantly easier to transport than many traditional high-output bass combos.

Fair Deal Music Expert Verdict

★★★★★ 5/5

The Fender Rumble 100 V3 hits an excellent sweet spot for bassists who have outgrown a small practice amplifier but don't want to carry a large stage rig.

Its standout benefit is the combination of 100-watt output, 12-inch Eminence speaker and genuinely manageable 9.98kg weight. Add the flexible four-band EQ, three voicing switches, built-in overdrive, effects loop and XLR output, and it becomes much more than a larger home-practice amp.

Best suited for: Developing and experienced bassists who need one portable combo for practice, rehearsals, recording and smaller live situations.

Customers usually upgrade from: Fender Rumble 15, Rumble 25 and other compact beginner bass amplifiers.

Most commonly paired with: A quality bass instrument cable, tuner, effects pedals and an optional Fender one-button footswitch.

Our tip: Don't automatically boost the Bass control when you need to hear yourself better in a band. Experiment with the Low-Mid and High-Mid controls first; the right midrange setting can make your bass considerably clearer without simply adding more low-frequency volume.

Showroom feedback: The Rumble 100 is one of the most useful sizes in the range. It feels like a genuine rehearsal and performance amp but remains light enough that carrying it to a session doesn't become a chore.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Fender Rumble 100 suitable for home practice?

Yes. Although it offers far more output than a small beginner amp, the Master Volume lets you use it at sensible home levels. The headphone output also provides a private-practice option.

Is the Rumble 100 loud enough for band rehearsals?

For many rehearsals, yes. Its suitability depends on how loudly the rest of the band plays, particularly the drummer and guitar amplifiers. Players in consistently loud bands may benefit from moving to a higher-powered model.

Can the Fender Rumble 100 be connected to a PA system?

Yes. It has a balanced XLR line output designed for connection to external sound and recording systems, with Ground Lift and Pre/Post switching.

Does the Rumble 100 have an effects loop?

Yes. Dedicated ¼-inch Send and Return connections allow compatible external effects to be placed in the amplifier's effects loop.

Can I use effects pedals with the Rumble 100?

Yes. Pedals can be connected conventionally between your bass and the amplifier input, while suitable effects can also be placed through the dedicated effects loop.

Does the Fender Rumble 100 have built-in distortion?

It has a dedicated overdrive circuit with Drive and Level controls. This lets you introduce anything from additional grit to a more aggressive driven bass sound.

What do the Bright, Contour and Vintage switches do?

Bright adds extra upper-frequency presence, Contour reshapes the sound with a scooped-mid character, and Vintage creates a darker, warmer response with additional compression and harmonic character.

Is the Rumble 100 suitable for active bass guitars?

Yes. Active and passive electric basses can be used with the standard instrument input. As with any amplifier, begin at a sensible Gain and Master Volume setting when connecting a particularly high-output instrument.

Can the overdrive be controlled with a footswitch?

Yes. The overdrive circuit supports compatible optional Fender one-button footswitches, making it easier to engage and disengage the effect while playing.

Does the Rumble 100 have a built-in tuner?

No. A separate tuner or tuning pedal is required. Players who specifically want built-in digital effects, presets and a tuner may prefer the Rumble LT modelling range.

Should I choose the Rumble 40 or Rumble 100?

Choose the Rumble 40 if portability, home use and recording are your main priorities. Choose the Rumble 100 if you need substantially greater output, a 12-inch Eminence speaker and an effects loop for a more rehearsal and performance-focused setup.

Should I choose the Rumble 100 or Rumble 200?

The Rumble 100 is considerably lighter and easier to transport while still offering useful rehearsal and smaller-gig capability. The Rumble 200 is the better choice when greater output, a 15-inch speaker and additional stage headroom are more important than maximum portability.

The Fender Rumble 100 V3 1x12 Bass Combo is an excellent step up for bassists who want serious amplification without a serious weight problem. With 100 watts, a 12-inch Eminence speaker, powerful EQ, selectable voicings, overdrive and practical live connectivity packed into a sub-10kg cabinet, it is a versatile amp that can comfortably follow a player from home practice into rehearsals and performance.
