Gibson Rex Brown Signature Thunderbird Bass Bass Guitar, (Used)

The Gibson Rex Brown Signature Thunderbird Bass is a long-scale four-string electric bass developed in collaboration with Pantera and Down bassist Rex Brown. It is built around the classic Thunderbird platform with a neck-through-body construction using mahogany and walnut, producing strong sustain, deep resonance, and a very rigid structural response across the instrument.

The bass uses a 34-inch scale length with a rosewood fingerboard and medium-jumbo frets, combined with a three-point adjustable bridge and Grover tuners. The Thunderbird body shape maintains its extended offset design with strong upper-bout balance and pronounced low-frequency projection. Rex Brown’s version includes custom cosmetic details and a satin-style finish aimed at a more stripped-back, stage-focused appearance.

The electronics consist of dual Rexbucker Thunderbird humbuckers with independent volume controls and a master tone control. The tonal response is aggressive and mid-forward with tight low-end extension, strong attack definition, and pronounced upper-mid grind, giving the bass a focused rock and metal voice while retaining the deep fundamental character associated with Thunderbird construction.
