Gretsch G2622T Streamliner Center Block Double-Cut with Bigsby Steel Olive, (Used)
Description
The Gretsch G2622T Streamliner Center Block Double-Cut with Bigsby in Steel Olive combines classic Gretsch semi-hollow styling with a powerful modern pickup system, centre-block construction and the unmistakable feel of a genuine Bigsby vibrato.
Its laminated maple double-cut body with chambered centre block provides the resonance and openness associated with a semi-hollow guitar while improving sustain and resistance to feedback at higher stage volumes. A pair of Broad’Tron BT-3S humbuckers delivers a muscular, articulate response, while push/pull coil-splitting adds brighter single-coil-style textures.
This pre-owned example is presented in Excellent Condition, showing only very light signs of previous use while remaining particularly well presented and fully functional.
A hardcase is included.

What Makes The Gretsch G2622T Streamliner Special?
The G2622T Streamliner combines the visual style and resonance of a traditional Gretsch semi-hollow with a more powerful and contemporary electronics package.
Its chambered centre block runs through the body beneath the bridge and pickups, helping control feedback and increasing sustain while still retaining the openness and acoustic character of the 16" laminated maple body.
The newer Broad’Tron BT-3S pickups provide greater output and stronger mids than many traditional Gretsch pickup designs, making the G2622T particularly capable with overdrive and distortion as well as cleaner styles.
Key Features & Benefits
Laminated Maple Center Block Body
The G2622T uses an arched laminated maple body with chambered centre block construction.
This design combines:
- Semi-hollow resonance
- Increased sustain
- Improved feedback resistance
- Stronger attack
- Comfortable body weight
- Excellent amplified performance
16" Double-Cut Body
The 16" body gives the G2622T a substantial semi-hollow feel without becoming excessively large.
The double-cutaway provides easier access to the higher frets than a traditional single-cut hollowbody.
Broad’Tron BT-3S Humbucking Pickups
The guitar uses two Gretsch Broad’Tron BT-3S humbuckers.
These pickups combine Alnico 5 and Alnico 2 magnets and are voiced for:
- Strong midrange
- Tight low end
- Smooth high frequencies
- Good note separation
- Increased output
- Excellent overdrive response
They retain Gretsch character while providing a fuller and more muscular sound than many lower-output vintage-style pickups.
Push/Pull Coil Splitting
The master volume control features push/pull coil splitting.
Pulling the control splits the Broad’Tron humbuckers, creating brighter and leaner sounds that complement the standard full-humbucker tones.
This gives the G2622T additional versatility for:
- Clean rhythm
- Funk
- Indie
- Country-influenced playing
- Layered recording
- Brighter effects-based tones
Flexible Gretsch Control Layout
The guitar provides:
- Neck Pickup Volume
- Bridge Pickup Volume
- Master Tone
- Master Volume
- Push/Pull Coil Split
- 3-Way Pickup Selector
The individual pickup volumes allow the neck and bridge pickups to be balanced independently while retaining a single master volume for quick overall level changes.
Bigsby B70 Vibrato
The Bigsby B70 vibrato tailpiece is one of the defining features of this model.
It is particularly effective for:
- Gentle chord shimmer
- Subtle pitch movement
- Rockabilly-style vibrato
- Ambient textures
- Vintage-style lead playing
A Bigsby is designed more for expressive movement than extreme pitch changes, giving it a very different feel from a locking tremolo.
Anchored Adjusto-Matic Bridge
The anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge allows individual string intonation adjustment while providing a stable contact point for the Bigsby system.
Soft “C” Nato Neck
The set nato neck uses a comfortable Soft “C” profile, making the guitar approachable for both rhythm and lead playing.
Laurel Fingerboard
The laurel fingerboard features:
- 12" radius
- 22 medium-jumbo frets
- Pearloid Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays
- Aged white binding
The 12" radius provides a relatively flat and modern playing surface compared with many strict vintage designs.
Real Bone Nut
A bone nut provides a durable and stable string-contact point and contributes to consistent open-string response.
Steel Olive Finish
The Steel Olive finish gives the G2622T a distinctive muted green appearance that works particularly well with its:
- Tortoiseshell pickguard
- Nickel hardware
- Aged white binding
- Gretsch Radio control knobs
It creates a more understated look than many traditional Gretsch orange or metallic finishes while remaining immediately recognisable.
Comparison Against Popular Alternatives
G2622T vs Gretsch Electromatic Center Block
The Electromatic range sits higher within the Gretsch catalogue and typically adds upgraded hardware, pickups and appointments.
The Streamliner offers much of the core centre-block Gretsch experience at a more accessible price.
G2622T vs Traditional Hollowbody Gretsch
A fully hollow Gretsch generally provides more acoustic resonance but can become more sensitive to feedback at higher gain.
The G2622T's centre block improves feedback resistance and sustain, making it particularly suitable for rock and modern amplified settings.
Broad’Tron vs Filter’Tron-Style Pickups
Broad’Tron pickups are generally fuller and more powerful than traditional Filter’Tron-style designs.
They provide more midrange and output, making them especially effective for players who regularly use overdrive and distortion.
Who Is It For?
Rock players – The centre block and Broad’Tron pickups make it far more gain-friendly than many traditional hollowbody guitars.
Blues guitarists – The neck pickup offers warm, expressive lead tones.
Indie and alternative players – Bigsby vibrato and coil-splitting work particularly well with modulation, delay and reverb.
Rockabilly players – The Bigsby and Gretsch styling retain the essential visual and functional character associated with the genre.
Singer-songwriters – The semi-hollow response works extremely well for open chords and layered rhythm playing.
Players wanting a versatile Gretsch – Coil splitting, dual humbuckers and individual pickup volumes give the G2622T considerably more flexibility than its retro appearance might suggest.
Suitable Genres & Applications
Particularly well suited to:
- Rock
- Blues
- Rockabilly
- Indie
- Alternative
- Classic rock
- Pop
- Country
- Americana
- Psychedelic rock
- Garage rock
- Singer-songwriter

Why Choose A Center Block Guitar?
A centre-block guitar bridges the gap between a full hollowbody and a solidbody.
The hollow sections of the body add resonance and openness, while the solid centre section beneath the pickups and bridge helps improve sustain and manage feedback.
This makes centre-block guitars particularly useful for musicians who want semi-hollow character but still need to use:
- Overdrive
- Distortion
- Louder stage volumes
- Effects-heavy rigs

Fair Deal Music Verdict
★★★★★ 5/5
The Gretsch G2622T Streamliner Center Block Double-Cut with Bigsby in Steel Olive is a particularly versatile semi-hollow that combines Gretsch style with a genuinely practical modern specification.
Its laminated maple centre-block body, Broad’Tron BT-3S pickups, coil splitting and Bigsby B70 allow it to move comfortably between clean semi-hollow sounds, blues, indie textures and much heavier rock tones than its vintage-inspired appearance might suggest.
The Steel Olive finish with tortoiseshell pickguard and nickel hardware also gives this version a distinctive appearance.
Presented in Excellent Condition and supplied with a hardcase, this is a strong pre-owned option for players wanting one guitar capable of covering vintage character and contemporary performance.
