Quick Product Summary

The Ibanez GSRM20 miKro is a compact short-scale electric bass that delivers genuine bass-guitar tone and feel in a smaller, easier-to-handle format. Its 28.6" scale reduces the distance between frets and lowers string tension, making it particularly comfortable for younger players, beginners and guitarists moving across to bass.

A poplar body, maple neck and bound purpleheart fingerboard combine with Ibanez Dynamix P and J pickups to provide a useful range of classic bass sounds. Despite its compact dimensions, the GSRM20 is a fully featured four-string bass suitable for practice, recording, lessons and live playing.

What Makes the Ibanez GSRM20 Special?

The defining feature of the GSRM20 is its compact 28.6" short scale. Compared with a conventional 34" bass, the shorter neck makes stretches easier and creates a softer string feel, without turning the instrument into a novelty or travel-only bass.

Its P/J pickup configuration also gives it impressive versatility. The Dynamix P neck pickup provides a full, solid foundation, while the Dynamix J bridge pickup adds definition and attack. Independent pickup volume controls let you blend the two sounds to suit different styles.

Who Is It For?

The Ibanez GSRM20 is particularly well suited to:

  • Beginners learning electric bass
  • Younger players
  • Guitarists moving across to bass
  • Players with smaller hands
  • Musicians who prefer reduced string tension
  • Home recording and practice
  • Experienced bassists wanting a compact short-scale instrument
  • Players looking for an easy-to-handle second bass

FAQs

Is the Ibanez GSRM20 a short-scale bass?

Yes. The GSRM20 has a 28.6" / 726mm scale length, making it considerably shorter than a conventional 34" full-scale electric bass.

Is the GSRM20 suitable for beginners?

Yes. Its compact dimensions, lighter feel and shorter fret spacing make it an excellent bass for beginners who may find a conventional full-scale instrument difficult to handle.

Is it suitable for younger players?

Yes. The shorter scale and compact body make the GSRM20 particularly suitable for younger musicians, while still providing the features and sound of a proper electric bass.

Can an adult use the Ibanez GSRM20?

Absolutely. The miKro is not limited to younger players. Many adult bassists prefer short-scale instruments for their comfortable feel, reduced stretches and distinctive response.

What pickups does the GSRM20 have?

It features an Ibanez Dynamix P pickup at the neck and a Dynamix J pickup at the bridge.

Can the two pickups be blended?

Yes. Each pickup has its own volume control, allowing you to blend the P and J pickups in different proportions before adjusting the overall tone control.

What advantage does a short-scale bass offer?

A shorter scale reduces the distance between frets and generally gives the strings a softer feel. This can make fretting, stretching and moving around the fingerboard more comfortable.

Does the GSRM20 have the same tuning as a normal bass?

Yes. It uses standard four-string bass tuning of E–A–D–G.

How many frets does it have?

The GSRM20 features 22 medium frets.

Is the bridge adjustable?

Yes. The B10 bridge allows individual adjustment for accurate intonation and setup.

Does the GSRM20 require a battery?

No. Its Dynamix pickups and electronics are passive, so no battery is required.

Is a gig bag included?

No. A case or gig bag is not included with this Open Box instrument.
