Service / Setup Work
All Pre-Owned acoustic and electro-acoustic guitars at Fair Deal Music are set up and checked before leaving the shop.
Our assessment includes neck relief, action, fret condition, nut and saddle, tuning stability, electronics and overall playability.
Acoustic guitars naturally react to changes in temperature and humidity, so minor setup movement can occur during transportation or while the instrument acclimatises to a new environment.
Why Choose The LAG T200DCE?
Solid Red Cedar Top
One of the strongest features of the T200DCE is its solid red cedar soundboard.
Cedar generally responds quickly to a lighter touch and is often favoured by players who want warmth and harmonic richness without having to drive the top particularly hard.
That makes this guitar particularly appealing for fingerstyle, singer-songwriter work and controlled strumming.
Mahogany Back And Sides
The mahogany back and sides help provide a strong midrange foundation and keep the overall sound balanced.
Combined with cedar, the result tends towards warmth and smoothness rather than the brighter attack commonly associated with a spruce-topped dreadnought.
Dreadnought Body
The dreadnought remains one of the most versatile steel-string acoustic formats.
Its larger body provides useful low-end depth and projection for chord work while retaining enough definition for single-note playing and fingerstyle.
Cutaway Design
The body cutaway gives easier access to the upper frets.
For players who use melodic fills, acoustic lead work or more extended chord voicings, this makes the T200DCE substantially more practical than a traditional non-cutaway dreadnought.
StudioLâg Plus Electronics
One of the most interesting parts of the T200DCE specification is its StudioLâg Plus preamp system.
Rather than relying entirely on a conventional three-band EQ, the system incorporates a selection of five preset tonal voicings designed for different amplified situations.
Controls include:
- Volume
- Bass/Treble contour
- Five-position sound selector
- Bypass option
- Built-in tuner
The pickup itself is a Shadow NanoFlex undersaddle system.
This gives the T200DCE plenty of flexibility for acoustic amplifiers, PA systems, DI boxes and recording equipment.
Why Choose Cedar For An Acoustic Guitar?
Cedar and spruce behave differently as acoustic soundboard materials.
Spruce generally has a firm attack and a wide dynamic ceiling, which makes it particularly effective for players who strum aggressively.
Cedar tends to respond more quickly at lower playing levels and can offer a warmer, more immediately developed character.
That makes the T200DCE especially appealing to players whose technique relies on touch, fingerstyle dynamics and vocal accompaniment, while still retaining enough body for conventional strumming.
Comparison Against Popular Alternatives
LAG T200DCE vs Yamaha FGX Series
Yamaha's FGX instruments provide a familiar spruce-led dreadnought approach. The LAG's solid cedar top offers a warmer response and the StudioLâg electronics provide a notably different amplified control system.
LAG T200DCE vs Takamine Dreadnought Electro Acoustics
Takamine has a particularly strong reputation for stage-ready acoustic guitars. The LAG competes with its own sophisticated preamp system while offering the softer response of a cedar soundboard.
LAG T200DCE vs Faith Naked Series
Faith Naked instruments emphasise stripped-back all-solid construction. The T200DCE instead pairs a solid top with more conventional back and side construction and places greater emphasis on its StudioLâg electronics.
LAG T200DCE vs Modern LAG Tramontane Models
The T200DCE belongs to an earlier generation of the Tramontane range. Current LAG models use different series numbering, materials and electronics, so the original T200 specification should not be confused with newer T118 or T218 guitars.
Who Is It For?
Singer-Songwriters
The warm cedar response works particularly well beneath vocals.
Fingerstyle Players
Cedar's quick response rewards a lighter touch, while the cutaway gives access to higher positions.
Gigging Acoustic Players
The onboard StudioLâg Plus system makes the guitar ready to connect directly to an amplifier or PA.
Acoustic Rhythm Players
The dreadnought body retains enough depth and projection for full chordal accompaniment.
Players Looking For Pre-Owned Value
This Good-condition example provides access to a solid-top electro-acoustic specification without paying for pristine cosmetics.
Suitable Genres And Uses
The LAG T200DCE is particularly well suited to:
- Singer-songwriter
- Folk
- Acoustic pop
- Country
- Americana
- Acoustic rock
- Blues
- Fingerstyle
- Strumming
- Worship
- Studio recording
- Home recording
- Open-mic performance
- Live acoustic work
What Does The NanoFlex Pickup Do?
The Shadow NanoFlex is mounted beneath the bridge saddle and converts string and saddle vibration into an electrical signal.
This allows the T200DCE to be connected directly to an acoustic amplifier, PA system, DI box, mixer or audio interface.
The StudioLâg Plus preamp then shapes that signal before it leaves the guitar.
The combination gives the player considerably more control on stage than simply adding an external soundhole pickup to a conventional acoustic.
Story & Context: LAG And The Tramontane Series
LAG is a French guitar brand with a long history of producing instruments that combine familiar guitar formats with distinctive European styling.
The Tramontane acoustic family became an especially important part of the company's range, recognisable by details such as the characteristic headstock, Occitan Cross-inspired decoration and black hardware.
The T200DCE formed part of an earlier generation of the Tramontane 200 range and was available during the early 2010s.
Its specification was particularly competitive for the period, combining a solid cedar soundboard, rosewood fingerboard and bridge and sophisticated StudioLâg Plus electronics in a stage-ready dreadnought format.
That older T200 generation should not be confused with LAG's later Tramontane numbering systems, as materials and electronics have changed considerably over time.

Specification Note
The T200DCE is a discontinued earlier-generation Tramontane model, and specifications published online are sometimes mixed with newer LAG instruments carrying similar series names.
For this reason, the specification above is based on period T200DCE documentation and contemporary examples rather than applying specifications from current LAG Tramontane models.
Power Requirements
The StudioLâg Plus active preamp requires battery power for amplified operation and use of its onboard tuner.
The guitar itself can be played normally as a purely acoustic instrument without battery power.
For amplified use, connect the T200DCE to an acoustic amplifier, PA system, DI box, mixer or recording interface with a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable.
Why Buy Pre-Owned From Fair Deal Music?
A Good-condition acoustic can be a particularly sensible purchase for musicians looking for a working instrument rather than a cosmetically perfect example.
The T200DCE retains the features that matter most: a solid cedar top, comfortable cutaway dreadnought construction and versatile StudioLâg electronics.
Every Pre-Owned guitar at Fair Deal Music is individually checked and assessed before sale.
Fair Deal Music Verdict
★★★★★ 5/5
The LAG T200DCE Tramontane 200 remains an interesting electro-acoustic even compared with newer instruments.
Its solid red cedar top provides a warm and responsive acoustic voice, but the standout feature for gigging musicians is arguably the StudioLâg Plus electronics.
Rather than simply providing volume and basic EQ, the five preset voicings make it easy to move between useful amplified sounds without spending long adjusting controls on stage.
This Good-condition example is best viewed as a working acoustic: cosmetic perfection is not the objective, but the underlying specification remains very capable.
Best suited for: Singer-songwriters, acoustic performers and players looking for a warm-sounding stage-ready dreadnought.
Customers usually upgrade from: Entry-level laminate acoustics and basic solid-top electro-acoustic guitars.
Most commonly paired with: Acoustic amplifiers, PA systems, DI boxes, loopers, reverb and recording interfaces.
Our tip: Explore the different StudioLâg Plus presets through the PA or amplifier you actually intend to use. The most flattering setting in isolation may not necessarily be the one that sits best alongside vocals or a full band.
Showroom feedback: The solid cedar top gives the guitar an immediately warm character, while the electronics are considerably more flexible than you might expect from an electro-acoustic of this generation.
