Martin X Series Remastered 0-X1 Black, (Used)
Description
The Martin X Series Remastered 0-X1 Black is a compact, understated acoustic that combines Martin’s smallest full-sized body shape with durable HPL construction and updated modern playability.
The 0-14 fret Concert body gives it a focused, articulate voice particularly well suited to fingerstyle, songwriting and lighter strumming, while the shorter 24.9" scale creates a comfortable string feel. The black HPL top, back and sides also make it a practical choice for players who want a Martin that can cope well with regular everyday use.
The Remastered specification brings a thinner Richlite fingerboard with a gently bevelled comfort edge, refined string spacing and a revised bridge profile designed to make the guitar feel smoother under the hands.
This Pre-Owned example is offered in Excellent condition and includes a gigbag.

Fair Deal Quality Control Assessment
This Pre-Owned Martin acoustic has been inspected and assessed by the Fair Deal Music team before sale.
Our checks include the neck, Richlite fingerboard, fret condition, nut, saddle, bridge, tuning machines, bracing integrity where externally assessable, action, tuning stability and overall playability.
The supplied gigbag is also checked for basic usability.
Service / Setup Work
All Pre-Owned acoustic guitars at Fair Deal Music are set up and checked before leaving the shop.
Our assessment includes neck relief, action, fret condition, nut and saddle, tuning stability and overall playability.
Acoustic guitars naturally respond to changes in temperature and humidity, so minor movement in the setup may occur during delivery or as the instrument acclimatises to a new environment.
Why Choose The Martin 0-X1 Black?
Compact 0-Size Body
Martin’s 0 body is the smallest of its full-sized acoustic guitar shapes.
It provides a more intimate playing experience than a dreadnought or 000 while retaining the proportions and response of a proper full-scale acoustic instrument rather than feeling like a miniature travel guitar.
Durable All-HPL Construction
The top, back and sides use High-Pressure Laminate, or HPL.
HPL is particularly resistant to environmental changes and everyday handling, making the 0-X1 a sensible option for players who want an acoustic they can use regularly without treating it as delicately as an all-solid-wood instrument.
Comfortable 24.9" Scale
The 24.9" scale length creates slightly lower string tension than a longer-scale acoustic.
That can make chord work, stretches and fingerstyle passages feel more relaxed, particularly for players accustomed to shorter-scale electric guitars.
Remastered Playability
The updated X Series specification introduced a thinner fingerboard, gently bevelled comfort edge, refined string spacing and redesigned bridge contour.
These changes are subtle, but together they make the instrument feel noticeably more refined than a purely budget-oriented acoustic.
Richlite Fingerboard And Bridge
Martin uses Richlite for both the fingerboard and bridge.
It provides a smooth, stable playing surface and complements the X Series philosophy of using durable modern materials where they make practical sense.
Why Choose A Martin 0-Size Acoustic?
A smaller-bodied acoustic tends to favour clarity and definition rather than the huge low-end projection associated with a dreadnought.
That makes a 0-size particularly useful for fingerstyle playing, vocal accompaniment, home practice and recording, where excessive bass can sometimes make an acoustic harder to fit into the overall sound.
The smaller body also sits more naturally against the player, making it especially comfortable for longer seated sessions.
Comparison Against Popular Alternatives
Martin 0-X1 Black vs Martin 000-X Series
A 000 offers a larger body and fuller low-frequency response. The 0-X1 is the better choice where compact dimensions, articulation and comfort are the priorities.
Martin 0-X1 Black vs Martin D-X1
The D-X1 uses Martin’s much larger dreadnought body and produces greater bass and overall projection. The 0-X1 has a more controlled, intimate response and feels substantially smaller against the player.
Martin 0-X1 Black vs Taylor GS Mini
The GS Mini is another popular compact acoustic and uses an even shorter scale. The Martin provides the distinctive proportions of a traditional 0-size body and an understated all-black aesthetic.
Martin 0-X1 Black vs Traditional Solid-Top Acoustic
A conventional solid-top instrument may offer greater tonal development as the soundboard ages. The all-HPL Martin prioritises consistency, durability and resistance to environmental change instead.
Who Is It For?
Fingerstyle Players
The controlled bass response and clear treble reproduction of the 0 body make it particularly well suited to individual-note playing.
Singer-Songwriters
Its compact dimensions make it easy to play while seated, and its focused voice leaves plenty of space around vocals.
Home Players
The smaller body makes it comfortable on the sofa, at a desk or during longer practice sessions.
Travelling Musicians
The combination of compact dimensions and durable HPL construction makes the 0-X1 particularly practical for regular transportation.
Electric Guitarists Wanting An Acoustic
The shorter scale and manageable body size can make the transition from an electric guitar feel considerably easier.
Suitable Genres And Uses
The Martin 0-X1 Black works especially well for fingerstyle, folk, acoustic pop, blues, singer-songwriter material, indie, Americana, songwriting, home practice, travel and recording.
What Is HPL?
High-Pressure Laminate is a composite material manufactured under heat and pressure.
Martin uses HPL extensively throughout the X Series because it provides excellent consistency and resistance to humidity and temperature changes.
On the 0-X1 Black, the top, back and sides are all HPL, so this should not be confused with a solid-spruce-top Martin.
The advantage is practicality: it is an acoustic designed to be played regularly and taken places without requiring quite the same environmental care as many solid-wood instruments.
Story & Context: Martin X Series Remastered
Martin introduced the X Series to make its acoustic designs accessible to more players while exploring alternative construction materials such as HPL and Richlite.
Rather than positioning the range simply as stripped-down versions of traditional Martins, the X Series gradually developed its own identity around durability, affordability and real-world practicality.
In January 2024, Martin announced the Remastered X Series, introducing revised HPL designs and several significant playability updates.
These included a thinner fingerboard with a gently bevelled comfort edge, refined string spacing and a modernised bridge shape.
The 0-X1 Black applies that philosophy to Martin’s smallest full-sized Concert shape, pairing a minimalist all-black appearance with particularly straightforward acoustic functionality.

Fair Deal Music Verdict
★★★★★ 5/5
The Martin X Series Remastered 0-X1 Black is a refreshingly straightforward acoustic.
It is compact without feeling like a novelty travel guitar, durable without pretending to be an all-solid instrument, and the updated neck, fingerboard and bridge details make it genuinely comfortable to play.
For fingerstyle, songwriting, practice or simply keeping a dependable Martin close at hand, it makes a great deal of sense.
Best suited for: Fingerstyle players, singer-songwriters and anyone wanting a compact, durable Martin acoustic.
Customers usually upgrade from: Entry-level acoustics, travel guitars and basic laminate instruments.
Most commonly paired with: Capos, clip-on tuners, acoustic straps and recording microphones.
Our tip: The 0 body rewards a lighter touch. Rather than driving it like a dreadnought, experiment with controlled fingerstyle and lighter strumming to bring out its clarity.
Showroom feedback: Its greatest strengths are comfort and simplicity. The small body and shorter scale make it very easy to sit with for long periods, while the all-black appearance gives it a distinctive modern edge.
