MONO M80 Vertigo Bass Guitar Gig Bag, (Used)
Description
The MONO M80 Vertigo Bass Guitar Gig Bag is a premium protective case designed for bassists who want substantially more protection than a conventional soft bag without the bulk and inconvenience of a traditional hardcase.
Its distinctive Top-Loading design allows a bass to be inserted and removed while the case remains upright, while MONO’s Headlock neck suspension system supports the neck and keeps the headstock away from potential impact points.
At the base, The Boot uses moulded rubber and impact-absorbing material to provide additional protection from vertical drops. ABS-reinforced panels, plush internal lining and a water-resistant Sharkskin outer shell complete a design intended for regular rehearsals, gigs, sessions and travel.

Fair Deal Quality Control Assessment
This Pre-Owned MONO case has been checked by the Fair Deal Music team before sale.
Our assessment includes the main zipper operation, internal lining, Headlock neck-support area, moulded base, handles, seams, exterior material and storage areas. The case is also checked for obvious structural issues that could compromise normal instrument protection.
Why Choose The MONO M80 Vertigo Bass Case?
Top-Loading Access
The Vertigo's defining feature is its Top-Loading design.
Rather than laying the entire case flat every time you remove your bass, the upper section can be opened while the case remains upright. This is especially convenient backstage, in rehearsal rooms and anywhere floor space is limited.
Headlock Neck Suspension
MONO's Headlock system supports the bass neck inside the case without requiring separate straps or buckles.
Once the case is closed, the neck is held securely while the headstock remains suspended away from the surrounding surfaces, helping protect one of the most vulnerable areas of the instrument.
The Boot Impact Protection
The bottom of a gig bag often receives the hardest treatment in everyday use.
MONO developed The Boot as a moulded protective base incorporating rubber and impact-absorbing material to provide additional protection against vertical knocks and drops while also protecting the bass's strap button.
Reinforced Hybrid Construction
The Vertigo sits somewhere between an ordinary soft gig bag and a rigid hardcase.
Integral ABS panels reinforce vulnerable areas while keeping overall weight significantly below that of many traditional cases.
Water-Resistant Sharkskin Outer Shell
The exterior uses MONO's water-resistant Sharkskin material, providing additional resistance against everyday weather and abrasion.
It is designed for musicians who regularly move their instrument between home, cars, rehearsal rooms, venues and studios.
Why Choose A Premium Gig Bag Instead Of A Hardcase?
A traditional hardcase offers excellent rigid protection but can become cumbersome when travelling on foot, public transport or moving multiple pieces of equipment into a venue.
A premium hybrid bag such as the M80 Vertigo aims to provide a useful middle ground. Reinforced protection surrounds the bass while the lighter construction and upright-loading format make everyday transport considerably easier.
For many gigging players, that combination can make a premium gig bag more practical than a heavy hardcase for routine local use.
Bass Guitar Compatibility
The Vertigo Bass is designed around standard electric-bass dimensions and can accommodate many commonly encountered bass shapes.
The maximum internal dimensions are approximately:
| Measurement | Capacity |
|---|---|
| Internal Length | 48" / 121.9cm |
| Internal Width | 14.5" / 36.8cm |
| Internal Depth | 3" / 7.6cm |
Players with unusually long-scale, extended-range or oversized basses should compare their instrument carefully against these internal dimensions before purchasing.
Comparison Against Popular Alternatives
MONO M80 Vertigo vs MONO M80 Classic Bass
The M80 Classic uses a more conventional full-opening gigbag design. The Vertigo is the stronger choice for players attracted to upright Top-Loading access and The Boot base-protection system.
MONO M80 Vertigo vs Vertigo Ultra Bass
The Vertigo Ultra develops the same fundamental concept with newer premium features and additional transport refinements. The standard Vertigo remains an excellent choice for players prioritising the proven Headlock and Boot protection system.
MONO Vertigo vs Conventional Padded Gig Bag
A basic padded gig bag can be lighter and less expensive, but the Vertigo adds substantially more structural reinforcement, neck suspension and base protection for players transporting valuable instruments regularly.
MONO Vertigo vs Traditional Hardcase
A rigid hardcase remains attractive when maximum shell rigidity is the priority. The Vertigo is generally more convenient when carrying the instrument between rehearsals, sessions and gigs where portability matters just as much as protection.
Who Is It For?
The M80 Vertigo is particularly well suited to gigging bassists, session musicians, students travelling regularly with valuable equipment, touring players and anyone wanting better protection than a conventional soft bag without moving to a bulky hardcase.
It is also a logical upgrade for musicians who have invested in a professional bass and want the case protecting it to be of a similarly high standard.
Story & Context: MONO M80 Vertigo
MONO developed the Vertigo around a simple real-world observation: musicians frequently remove their instruments from partially opened cases while those cases are still standing upright.
Rather than forcing the player to lay the case completely flat, MONO designed the Vertigo specifically around this behaviour and created its Top-Loading format.
The concept was then developed further with the automatic Headlock neck-support system and the moulded Boot at the bottom of the case.
The result became one of MONO's most recognisable case designs and helped establish the idea that a premium gig bag could provide significantly more sophisticated protection than traditional foam padding alone.

Fair Deal Music Verdict
★★★★★ 5/5
The MONO M80 Vertigo Bass Guitar Gig Bag is an excellent option for anyone carrying a valuable bass regularly.
Its greatest strength is that the protective features are genuinely practical: the Headlock supports the neck, The Boot reinforces an area that frequently receives knocks, and Top-Loading access makes life easier in cramped rehearsal rooms and backstage environments.
Best suited for: Working bassists, regular gigging musicians and anyone wanting serious protection without a bulky hardcase.
Customers usually upgrade from: Standard padded gig bags and basic manufacturer-supplied soft cases.
Most commonly paired with: Standard-bodied four and five-string electric basses that fall within the case's internal dimensions.
Our tip: Measure your bass before ordering if it has an unusually long headstock, oversized body or extended-scale design. Case compatibility is always best determined from the exact instrument dimensions.
Showroom feedback: The Vertigo feels considerably more protective than a conventional soft bag while remaining much easier to handle than many full-size bass hardcases.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the MONO M80 Vertigo a hardcase?
Not in the traditional moulded-shell sense. It is best described as a premium hybrid gig bag/case, combining flexible construction with substantial structural reinforcement.
What is the Headlock system?
Headlock supports the instrument's neck inside the case and helps keep the headstock suspended away from potential impact areas.
What is The Boot?
The Boot is MONO's moulded protective base, designed to absorb additional impact when the bottom of the case is knocked or dropped.
Is it water resistant?
Yes. The outer Sharkskin material is designed to provide water resistance, although it should not be treated as a fully waterproof submersible case.
What size bass will it accept?
The internal dimensions are approximately 48" × 14.5" × 3". Unusually shaped or extended-scale basses should be measured before purchase.
How much does it weigh?
The Vertigo Bass case itself weighs approximately 6 lb / 2.7kg when empty.
Is it suitable for an expensive bass?
Yes. Protecting professional and higher-value instruments during routine transport is one of the main reasons to choose a case of this type.
