Description

The Nash guitars S63 in 3-Tone Sunburst is a USA-built, vintage-inspired S-style electric designed to capture the character and feel of a well-played early-1960s instrument while incorporating practical features for modern players.

This example combines the classic SSS single-coil configuration, tremolo bridge and maple-neck specification with Nash’s deliberately aged Relic finish. The 3-Tone Sunburst and worn-in presentation give it the appearance of an instrument that has already seen decades of gigs rather than a pristine modern recreation.

This Pre-Owned example is offered in Very Good condition and includes a hardcase.

No faults, repairs or modifications have been supplied for this listing.

Why Choose The Nashguitars S63?

Vintage Character Without Needing A Vintage Guitar

The S63 is aimed at players who love the feel and appearance of an extensively played early-’60s electric but want a purpose-built instrument rather than the expense and potential ownership considerations of an original vintage example.

Classic SSS Versatility

Three single-coil pickups make this a particularly adaptable guitar for sparkling clean sounds, blues, funk rhythm work, country, indie and pushed valve-amp tones.

Maple-Neck Specification

The maple-neck configuration gives this particular S63 a visual and playing identity that differs from the rosewood-equipped specification more commonly associated with the S63.

Practical S-Model Updates

Nash’s approach is not simply to recreate an old design cosmetically. The S-series concept incorporates a stronger bridge pickup response and useful tone control arrangement to improve balance and versatility.

Purposeful Relic Finish

For players who dislike worrying about the first knock or finish mark on a pristine guitar, the aged Nash approach encourages the instrument to be treated as something to play rather than something to preserve untouched.

Comparison Against Popular Alternatives

Nash S63 vs Fender Custom Shop 1960s Stratocaster Relic

A Fender Custom Shop model carries Fender branding and often targets a particular historical specification in greater detail, while the Nash takes a more player-focused approach to the aged S-style concept and is well suited to buyers prioritising feel, playability and individuality.

Nash S63 vs Fender American Vintage II Stratocaster

The American Vintage II range is aimed at a cleaner factory recreation of an earlier Fender era, while the Nash is the stronger choice for someone specifically wanting a heavily played-in appearance and feel from the outset.

Nash S63 vs Nash S57

The S57 leans more strongly toward the visual language of a 1950s-style S guitar, while the S63 moves into the early-1960s aesthetic with wider colour and pickguard possibilities.

Nash S63 vs Modern S-Style Performance Guitar

A modern S-style instrument may offer flatter radii, larger frets and contemporary hardware, while the Nash is better suited to someone who wants the personality and tactile character of an older-style instrument.

Who Is It For?

Blues Players

The dynamic response and familiar SSS layout make the S63 a natural platform for expressive clean, edge-of-breakup and overdriven tones.

Classic Rock Guitarists

Bridge and neck single-coil sounds work particularly well with valve-style amplification, boosts, fuzzes and overdrives.

Funk And Soul Players

The clear attack and intermediate pickup combinations associated with the SSS format make this style of guitar highly effective for rhythmic chord and clean accompaniment work.

Indie And Alternative Musicians

The combination of traditional single-coils, tremolo and aged styling fits naturally into effects-driven and textural guitar setups.

Players Who Prefer A Worn-In Guitar

If you prefer an instrument that already feels visually broken-in rather than pristine, Nash’s ageing process is one of the defining attractions of the brand.

Why Choose A Relic S-Style Guitar?

A relic guitar is not simply about making a new instrument look old. For many players, the real attraction is psychological and tactile: a worn-looking guitar invites regular use without the concern associated with keeping a flawless high-gloss finish immaculate.

Nash takes that idea further by building its instruments specifically around a vintage-inspired feel and nitrocellulose finish rather than treating ageing as a purely decorative final step. The result is aimed at players who want the character of an older-style guitar while retaining the practicality of a modern working instrument.

Story & Context: Nashguitars S63

Nashguitars is based in Olympia, Washington, and has built its identity around handmade USA guitars that capture the look and feel of older instruments while incorporating selective updates for modern players.

The company uses 100% nitrocellulose lacquer across its guitars and has become particularly closely associated with deliberately aged finishes. Rather than restricting the concept to occasional special editions, aged presentation has become a defining part of the Nash identity.

Within the S range, the S63 represents Nash’s interpretation of the transition into the early 1960s. The company specifically associates the model with the expanding palette of automotive-inspired colours that became closely linked with electric guitars during that decade.

Nash also departs from strict vintage replication where it believes there is a practical benefit, particularly in the S-series electronics. The result is an instrument designed to evoke an older guitar without being constrained by every limitation of the original format.

A Pre-Owned Nash is particularly appealing because the deliberately aged finish means an individual instrument can develop its own character without losing the visual identity that attracted players to the brand in the first place.

It also offers an alternative route into the premium USA-built S-style market for players comparing boutique instruments with Fender Custom Shop and other high-end vintage-inspired guitars.

At Fair Deal Music, our Pre-Owned guitars are individually checked and assessed before sale, helping you buy distinctive used instruments with greater confidence.

Fair Deal Music Verdict

★★★★★ 5/5

The Nashguitars S63 3-Tone Sunburst Relic is a strong choice for players who want an S-style guitar that already feels visually established rather than factory fresh. Its SSS layout, tremolo and maple-neck specification provide the familiar ingredients, while Nash’s aged presentation gives it a distinctly individual character.

Best suited for: Blues, rock, funk, indie and roots players wanting a premium USA-built vintage-inspired S-style guitar.

Customers usually upgrade from: Fender Player and American-series Strat-style guitars, mid-range S-types and cleaner production instruments.

Most commonly paired with: Valve amplifiers, overdrive, fuzz, compressor, wah, delay and reverb.

Our tip: A relic guitar makes most sense when you stop worrying about keeping it pristine and simply use it. This is the kind of instrument designed to become part of a regular live or studio rig.

Showroom feedback: The appeal of the S63 is not just the aged appearance; it is the combination of familiar S-style ergonomics with Nash’s deliberately player-focused interpretation of the classic format.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the relic wear genuine playing wear?

The aged appearance forms part of the Nashguitars finish treatment. As a Pre-Owned instrument it may also show signs of actual use, but the intentionally aged presentation is a fundamental part of the model.

Is this suitable for modern pedals and amp modellers?

Yes. Its passive single-coil output works with traditional amplifiers, pedalboards, multi-effects processors, profiling systems and digital amp modellers.

Can the tremolo be set up differently?

Yes. Depending on playing preference, an S-style tremolo can be adjusted for different amounts of movement. Changing the setup may require spring-tension, action and intonation adjustment.

What string gauge works well on an S-style guitar?

A 9–42 or 10–46 set both work well for this type of instrument. Changing gauge significantly may require the tremolo and overall setup to be adjusted.

Does a relic nitro finish require special care?

Use guitar-safe cleaning products and avoid prolonged contact with materials known to react with nitrocellulose lacquer. Stable temperature and humidity are also sensible for any quality wooden instrument.

Can I request a closer look before purchasing?

Yes. Our Request a Video Demo option is useful for an individual Pre-Owned relic guitar because it allows you to see the ageing, finish and overall appearance in greater detail before purchasing.
