PDP PDDP712 700 Series Double Bass Drum Pedal

Quick Product Summary

The PDP PDDP712 700 Series Double Bass Drum Pedal delivers an accessible route into double-pedal playing with a straightforward, responsive design developed by PDP and DW.

Featuring a traditional single-chain concentric drive, two-way beaters, a dual-post primary pedal and a telescoping linkage with universal joints, the PDDP712 provides the control and adjustability needed for practice, rehearsals and live performance.

What Makes the PDP PDDP712 Special?

The PDDP712 uses a retro-inspired single-chain drive with concentric cams, giving both pedals a smooth and predictable response. This traditional drive geometry makes it easy to control while still providing the speed needed for developing double-kick techniques across rock, metal and other contemporary styles.

A sturdy dual-post primary pedal, solid baseplate and durable connecting linkage provide a stable foundation underfoot. Adjustable beater angles allow the setup to be personalised, while the reversible two-way beaters give players a choice of attack against the bass drum head.

FAQs

Is the PDP PDDP712 a double bass drum pedal?

Yes. The PDDP712 is a complete double-pedal system with primary and auxiliary footboards connected by an adjustable linkage.

What drive system does the PDDP712 use?

It uses a single-chain concentric drive system on each pedal, providing a smooth and consistent feel throughout the stroke.

What is a concentric cam?

A concentric cam maintains a consistent relationship between footboard movement and beater travel, resulting in a predictable and traditional pedal response.

Is the PDDP712 suitable for beginners?

Yes. Its straightforward drive system and accessible adjustment make it an excellent option for players beginning to develop double-pedal technique.

Is it suitable for metal?

Yes. The double-pedal layout makes it particularly useful for metal, hard rock and other styles that require rapid or sustained double-kick patterns.

Can the distance between the pedals be adjusted?

Yes. The telescoping linkage allows the auxiliary pedal to be positioned to suit your preferred stance and drum setup.

Does the linkage use universal joints?

Yes. The connecting linkage incorporates universal joints to transfer movement from the auxiliary pedal to the second beater on the primary assembly.

Are two beaters included?

Yes. The PDDP712 includes two two-way beaters, allowing different playing surfaces to be used for alternative attack characteristics.

Can the beater angle be adjusted?

Yes. Beater-angle adjustment lets you alter the starting position of the beaters to tailor the stroke and feel.

Does the pedal have a solid baseplate?

Yes. The solid baseplate provides a stable foundation and helps reduce unwanted movement during more energetic playing.

How does the PDDP712 differ from the PDSP710?

The PDSP710 is a single bass drum pedal, while the PDDP712 is a double pedal with a second footboard, additional beater and connecting linkage.

Does the PDDP712 require a power supply?

No. The PDDP712 is entirely mechanical drum hardware and requires no electrical power or power supply.
