FAQs

Is the PDP PDSP710 a single or double bass drum pedal?

The PDSP710 is a single bass drum pedal, designed to operate one bass drum beater from one footboard.

What drive system does the PDSP710 use?

It uses a single-chain drive with a concentric cam, providing a smooth and predictable relationship between footboard movement and beater travel.

What is a concentric cam?

A concentric cam maintains a relatively consistent drive radius throughout the pedal stroke. This creates an even and familiar response that suits players who prefer a traditional bass drum pedal feel.

Does the PDSP710 have a dual-post frame?

Yes. The pedal uses a dual-post design, providing support on both sides of the drive assembly for a stable playing platform.

What type of beater is included?

The PDSP710 comes with a two-way beater, allowing you to choose between different playing surfaces to alter the attack and feel against the bass drum head.

Can I adjust the beater angle?

Yes. Beater-angle adjustment lets you tailor the starting position and stroke to better suit your playing technique.

Does it have a solid baseplate?

Yes. The PDSP710 uses a solid steel baseplate, helping keep the pedal stable during more energetic playing.

Is the PDP PDSP710 suitable for beginners?

Yes. Its straightforward single-chain design and predictable pedal response make it particularly approachable for beginners, while its sturdy construction also makes it useful for more experienced players.

Is it suitable for gigging?

Yes. The 700 Series is designed around lightweight, portable hardware, making the PDSP710 a practical option for rehearsals and regular live use.

Is the PDSP710 suitable for rock music?

Yes. Its solid baseplate, dual-post construction and adjustable beater make it suitable for rock as well as pop, indie, funk and many other styles.

How does the PDSP710 compare with a double pedal?

The PDSP710 operates a single beater with one foot. A double bass pedal adds a second footboard and beater, allowing both feet to play the same bass drum.

Is this pedal suitable for a standard acoustic bass drum?

Yes. The PDSP710 is designed for use with conventional acoustic bass drums and is a practical replacement or upgrade for many standard kit pedals.
