What Makes The PRS SE P20E Special?
The SE P20E takes the familiar warmth of an all-mahogany acoustic and places it into a compact Tonare Parlor body that is easy to hold, transport and play for extended periods. PRS's Hybrid “X”/Classical bracing combines an X brace behind the bridge with fan-style bracing across the lower bout, allowing the top to vibrate freely while retaining structural support.
Premium appointments including an ebony fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, PRS bird inlays and herringbone detailing give the P20E a specification that feels considerably more refined than many small-bodied travel-style guitars.
Key Features & Benefits
Solid Mahogany Top
The solid mahogany top contributes to the guitar's warm, direct tonal character, with a strong midrange that works particularly well for fingerstyle, blues and vocal accompaniment.
Mahogany Back & Sides
Mahogany back and sides complement the top with a focused response that avoids excessive boominess, helping the compact body remain clear and balanced.
PRS Hybrid “X”/Classical Bracing
PRS combines elements of traditional X bracing with classical-style fan bracing to encourage the smaller top to move freely and project more strongly.
Wide Fat Mahogany Neck
The Wide Fat neck profile offers a substantial but comfortable feel, particularly suited to players who prefer more support in the fretting hand.
Ebony Fingerboard & Bridge
Ebony adds a smooth, premium feel under the fingers and is also used for the bridge, complementing the guitar's understated all-mahogany appearance.
Bone Nut & Saddle
A genuine bone nut and saddle provide durable string-contact points and are premium appointments rarely taken for granted on compact acoustics at this level.
Comparison Against Popular Alternatives
PRS SE P20E vs Full-Size Dreadnought
A dreadnought generally produces greater low-end depth and overall acoustic volume, while the P20E offers a more intimate response, greater playing comfort and easier portability.
PRS SE P20E vs PRS SE P20
The P20 and P20E share the same basic acoustic construction, but the P20E adds onboard Fishman electronics, making it suitable for direct connection to an amplifier, PA or recording system.
PRS SE P20E vs Travel Guitar
Although compact enough for convenient transport, the P20E is built as a full-featured professional acoustic rather than simply a reduced-scale travel instrument, with a solid top, ebony fingerboard and conventional playing proportions.
Who Is It For?
Singer-songwriters – Its warm midrange leaves useful space around a lead vocal.
Fingerstyle players – The compact body responds well to lighter playing dynamics and detailed articulation.
Blues players – All-mahogany acoustics are particularly effective for dry, rootsy fingerpicked and flatpicked tones.
Smaller-bodied guitar fans – Ideal for players who find dreadnoughts physically cumbersome.
Gigging acoustic players – The onboard pickup system allows easy connection to stage amplification.
Home and studio musicians – Its focused response can sit particularly well in recorded arrangements without overwhelming the mix.

- Folk
- Blues
- Acoustic blues
- Singer-songwriter
- Americana
- Country
- Indie
- Pop
- Fingerstyle
- Flatpicking

- Live acoustic performance
- Songwriting
- Practice
Why Choose A Parlour Acoustic?
A parlour-sized guitar provides a noticeably different playing experience from a dreadnought or jumbo.
Its smaller body sits closer to the player and generally produces a more focused midrange with less overwhelming bass response, making it particularly effective for fingerstyle, blues and vocal accompaniment.
The format is also easier to transport and comfortable for players who spend long periods writing, practising or recording.
The P20E retains these advantages while offering a full 24.72" scale and professional-quality construction rather than feeling like a miniature guitar.

Electronics Specification Note
The Vintage Mahogany P20E was produced across several model years.
Earlier examples used the Fishman GT1 system, while later production moved to the PRS-Voiced Fishman Sonitone system. Both use an undersaddle pickup with discreet soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls.
Without a serial number or production year, no unsupported claim is made regarding which exact Fishman version is installed in this individual guitar.
Power Requirements
The onboard Fishman pickup system is battery powered for amplified operation.
No external mains power supply is required.
Fair Deal Music Verdict
★★★★★ 5/5
The PRS SE P20E Tonare Parlor in Vintage Mahogany is a particularly appealing small-bodied electro-acoustic for players who want warmth, comfort and portability without sacrificing proper acoustic-guitar construction.
Its solid mahogany top, ebony fingerboard, bone nut and saddle and Hybrid “X”/Classical bracing give it a specification well beyond that of a basic travel guitar, while the onboard Fishman electronics make it equally practical on stage.
Presented in Excellent Condition and supplied with a gigbag, this is a strong pre-owned choice for fingerstyle players, songwriters, blues musicians or anyone wanting a compact acoustic that still feels like a serious instrument.
