Description
Quick Product Summary
The Squier Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster in Fiesta Red brings together unmistakable 1950s-inspired Strat styling, traditional three-single-coil versatility and a comfortable modern playing feel. With its maple fingerboard, vintage-tinted gloss neck and classic Fiesta Red finish, it captures the visual character of an early Strat while remaining approachable for today's players.
Three Fender-Designed alnico single-coil pickups deliver the clear neck tones, scooped in-between sounds and articulate bridge bite that have made the Stratocaster one of the most versatile electric guitar designs ever produced. A 9.5" fingerboard radius, narrow-tall frets and comfortable C-shaped maple neck make the Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster equally suitable for developing players and experienced guitarists looking for a traditional-style Strat without stepping straight into Fender pricing.

Fair Deal Quality Control Assessment
Every guitar supplied by Fair Deal Music is carefully checked before leaving us.
For an electric guitar such as the Squier Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster, our checks focus on general playability, tuning and hardware operation, pickup and control function, output signal and the overall condition of the instrument.
As with any guitar, small setup changes can occur after transport because wood naturally responds to changes in temperature and humidity. If you need advice on setup, string choice or getting the best from your new Stratocaster, our team is happy to help.
Why Choose The Squier Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster?
Genuine Classic Strat Character
The three-single-coil configuration gives you the familiar range of Stratocaster sounds through a five-position selector. From rounded neck-pickup cleans to bright bridge tones and the distinctive hollow character of positions two and four, it is a versatile platform for a huge range of playing styles.
Fender-Designed Alnico Pickups
Rather than the ceramic pickups found on more affordable Squier models such as the Affinity Stratocaster, the Classic Vibe '50s uses Fender-Designed alnico single coils. They are aimed at players looking for a more traditional Strat-style response with clarity, definition and the dynamic feel associated with classic single-coil designs.
Comfortable C-Shaped Maple Neck
The maple neck uses a comfortable C profile with a 9.5" fingerboard radius and 21 narrow-tall frets. It combines vintage-inspired appearance with dimensions that remain comfortable for chord work, blues phrasing, lead playing and everyday practice.
Vintage-Inspired Hardware Without Going Fully Vintage-Spec
A six-saddle vintage-style synchronized tremolo provides classic Strat vibrato effects, while vintage-style tuners, nickel-plated hardware and the tinted gloss neck reinforce the 1950s aesthetic.
Fiesta Red And Maple: An Iconic Combination
Fiesta Red is closely associated with the visual history of the Stratocaster, and pairing it with a maple fingerboard gives this Classic Vibe model an unmistakably old-school appearance. If the traditional look is a major part of why you want a Strat, this is one of the most convincing combinations in the Squier range.
Squier Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster vs Popular Alternatives
Squier Affinity Series Stratocaster
The Affinity Stratocaster is the more budget-focused option, with a lightweight poplar body, ceramic single-coil pickups and a two-point tremolo. It is an excellent entry point, but the Classic Vibe '50s is the stronger choice for players specifically seeking alnico pickups, vintage-inspired detailing and a more traditional overall specification.
Squier Classic Vibe '60s Stratocaster
The Classic Vibe '60s Stratocaster sits at a similar level but offers a different period flavour, most notably through its Indian laurel fingerboard and 1960s-inspired cosmetics. Choose the '50s model if you prefer the look and feel of a maple fingerboard and the cleaner early-Strat aesthetic.
Squier Classic Vibe '70s Stratocaster
The Classic Vibe '70s Stratocaster moves the visual inspiration forward with 1970s-style details, including the characteristic large-headstock appearance. Both offer Fender-Designed alnico single coils, so the decision is largely about which Strat era and aesthetic appeal most to you.
Fender Player II Stratocaster
Moving up to the Fender Player II Stratocaster brings features such as 22 medium-jumbo frets, Player Series Alnico V pickups, rolled fingerboard edges and a two-point synchronized tremolo. It is the logical step up for somebody wanting a Fender-branded instrument with more contemporary refinements, while the Squier Classic Vibe remains an excellent option when value and vintage-inspired character are the priorities.
Who Is The Squier Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster For?
This guitar is particularly well suited to:
-
Players who want their first serious Strat-style electric guitar
-
Guitarists moving up from a Squier Sonic, Affinity or similar beginner instrument
-
Fender fans wanting classic styling at a more accessible price point
-
Players who prefer maple fingerboards
-
Home recording musicians who need versatile clean and driven tones
-
Gigging players looking for a capable second guitar
-
Experienced players wanting an affordable traditional SSS Strat platform
It is also a strong choice for someone who has always wanted the visual appeal of a 1950s-style Stratocaster without moving into substantially more expensive Fender vintage-inspired ranges.
Suitable Genres And Uses
The traditional SSS pickup configuration works particularly well for:
Blues – expressive neck-pickup tones and responsive dynamics.
Classic Rock – articulate crunch sounds and familiar Strat bite.
Indie & Alternative – bright clean tones, modulation-friendly textures and cutting rhythm sounds.
Funk & Soul – positions two and four provide the crisp, percussive character associated with classic Strat rhythm work.
Pop – excellent clean definition for layered guitar arrangements.
Country – the bridge and bridge/middle settings can provide plenty of snap and articulation.
Home Recording – five pickup positions give you several clearly different sounds without changing guitars.
For very high-gain metal or players who specifically want a thicker bridge sound, an HSS Stratocaster with a bridge humbucker may be the better option.
What Makes A '50s-Style Stratocaster Different?
A '50s-inspired Stratocaster is primarily about capturing the look and feel associated with the guitar's earliest years. The Classic Vibe '50s combines a maple fingerboard, vintage-inspired headstock markings, aged-white plastics, nickel hardware and a tinted neck finish with the familiar double-cutaway Strat body.
Squier has sensibly avoided making the guitar excessively demanding to play in pursuit of historical accuracy. The 9.5" fingerboard radius and narrow-tall frets give it a more accommodating everyday feel while maintaining the character players expect from a traditional Strat-style instrument.

Story & Context
The original Fender Stratocaster made its debut in 1954, introducing a combination of three pickups, a contoured double-cutaway body and an innovative vibrato system. Its basic formula proved so successful that it remains immediately recognisable more than seven decades later.
Fiesta Red also has a genuine connection with the Stratocaster's formative years. The colour emerged as one of Fender's early custom finishes during the late 1950s and became particularly significant to British guitar culture through the striking red Stratocasters seen during the formative years of UK electric guitar music.
The Squier Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster does not attempt to be a museum-specification 1950s reissue. Instead, it takes key visual and tonal cues from that period and combines them with an accessible modern playing specification, making the early Strat aesthetic available to a much wider range of players.

Fair Deal Music Verdict
★★★★★ 5/5
The Squier Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster is one of the strongest options for players who want traditional Stratocaster styling and alnico single-coil character without moving immediately into Fender pricing.
The maple fingerboard, Fiesta Red finish and vintage-inspired hardware give it plenty of visual appeal, while the 9.5" radius and narrow-tall frets make the specification practical for modern everyday playing.
Best suited for: Players wanting a traditional SSS Strat with strong vintage-inspired styling and excellent versatility.
Customers usually upgrade from: Squier Sonic, Affinity and other entry-level Strat-style guitars.
Most commonly paired with: A clean-to-crunch guitar amplifier, tuner and a small selection of overdrive, modulation, delay or reverb effects.
Our tip: Spend time exploring pickup positions two and four. They give the Strat some of its most distinctive rhythm and clean tones and work particularly well with compression, chorus and light overdrive.
Showroom feedback: A particularly appealing choice for players who want the classic red-and-maple Strat look while retaining a comfortable, straightforward playing specification.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Squier Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster suitable for a beginner?
Yes. Although positioned above Squier's most basic ranges, its comfortable neck, familiar control layout and versatile pickup selection make it suitable for a committed beginner who wants an instrument they are unlikely to outgrow quickly.
How does an SSS Stratocaster behave with high-gain distortion?
Single-coil pickups retain plenty of clarity under gain but can produce more background hum than humbuckers, particularly with heavier distortion. Players concentrating primarily on modern high-gain styles may prefer an HSS Stratocaster with a bridge humbucker.
Can I use the Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster with effects pedals?
Absolutely. Strat-style single coils work especially well with overdrive, fuzz, compression, chorus, phaser, delay and reverb, making this a very flexible platform for building a pedalboard.
Can the tremolo be set up differently?
Yes. A Strat-style synchronized tremolo can be adjusted according to player preference, including setups that allow movement in both directions or configurations with reduced upward movement. Tremolo setup can also affect overall feel and tuning behaviour, so correct adjustment is important.
Is this a good guitar for home recording?
Yes. The five pickup selections provide several noticeably different tonal colours, making it easy to create contrasting rhythm, lead and clean layers without changing guitars.
Would this work well as a second or backup guitar?
Very well. Its traditional controls, broad tonal range and familiar 25.5" scale make it an easy guitar to integrate into an existing live or studio setup, particularly for players who need access to classic single-coil sounds.
What type of amplifier suits this Stratocaster?
It works with virtually any conventional electric guitar amplifier. Clean and edge-of-breakup valve-style tones complement the pickups particularly well, while modelling amplifiers are useful if you want to explore everything from sparkling cleans to driven rock sounds.
Fair Deal Music Recommendation
For players searching for a Squier Stratocaster with a maple fingerboard, traditional single-coil tones and unmistakable vintage styling, the Classic Vibe '50s in Fiesta Red is a particularly strong choice.
It delivers the essential versatility that made the Stratocaster design famous while offering specifications that remain accessible and enjoyable for modern players. If you're deciding between the Affinity range and a Fender Player model, the Classic Vibe sits in a very attractive middle ground for players who place classic character, specification and value high on the list.
