Suhr Shiba Drive Overdrive Pedal – Used
Description
Quick Product Summary
The Suhr Shiba Drive is a smooth, dynamic overdrive designed to provide warm rhythm tones, rich classic-rock drive and sustaining lead sounds while retaining clarity and low-end definition.
This used example is in Good condition, showing cosmetic signs of previous ownership and regular pedalboard use. With Drive, Level and Tone controls plus a three-position Smooth switch, the Shiba Drive can be tailored easily to different guitars, pickups and amplifiers.
What Makes the Suhr Shiba Drive Special?
The Shiba Drive is designed to respond naturally to picking dynamics and changes to the guitar's volume control, allowing it to move from pushed-clean sounds through bluesy crunch and into smooth, sustaining overdrive.
Its three-position Smooth switch alters the high-frequency response. The centre position provides the most open response, while the outer settings introduce different degrees of high-end roll-off for warmer single-coil sounds, thicker rhythm tones and smoother lead textures.
Who Is It For?
The Shiba Drive is ideal for guitarists looking for a polished, amp-like overdrive that can work with both clean and already driven amplifiers.
It suits blues, rock, fusion, country and contemporary guitar styles particularly well, and also works effectively as a gain-stage or boost alongside other overdrive and distortion pedals.

FAQs
What type of overdrive is the Suhr Shiba Drive?
The Shiba Drive is a smooth, dynamic overdrive designed to cover pushed-clean sounds, bluesy crunch, classic-rock rhythm tones and sustaining lead sounds.
What does the Drive control do?
Drive adjusts the amount of saturation, ranging from mild breakup to fuller, smoother overdrive.
What does the Smooth switch do?
The three-position Smooth switch alters the pedal's high-frequency response, allowing the overdrive to sound more open or progressively warmer and smoother.
What is the centre Smooth setting?
The centre position provides the most natural and open high-frequency response.
Is it suitable for single-coil pickups?
Yes. The Shiba Drive works well with both single-coils and humbuckers. The mild high-frequency roll-off setting can be especially useful for taming brighter single-coil guitars.
Can it push a valve amplifier harder?
Yes. The Level control provides enough output to push the front end of a responsive valve amplifier into additional natural clipping and sustain.
Does it clean up from the guitar volume control?
Yes. The Shiba Drive is designed to respond dynamically to changes in guitar volume and playing attack.
Can it be stacked with other overdrive pedals?
Yes. Its clear low end and adjustable voicing make it well suited to stacked gain setups.
Does it use true bypass?
Yes. The Shiba Drive features true bypass switching.
What is the FX Link connection for?
FX Link allows compatible external switching equipment or pedalboard controllers to control the pedal's on/off state remotely.
Can it run at 18V?
Yes. Suhr specifies operation up to 18V DC, provided a correctly regulated and polarised supply is used.
Can it run from a battery?
Yes. The Shiba Drive accepts a standard 9V battery.
Is a power supply included?
No. No power supply is included with this used pedal.
What condition is this example in?
This example is graded Good, with cosmetic signs of previous use consistent with a pre-owned effects pedal.
