WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT
The GS Mini has become one of Taylor’s most popular designs because it delivers a genuinely useful acoustic voice in a much smaller and easier-to-handle package than a traditional full-size guitar.
The Koa Plus version adds a solid Hawaiian koa top, giving the guitar a warm and articulate character that develops additional sweetness as the top matures.
The Shaded Edgeburst finish also gives this version a much more premium visual identity than a standard GS Mini, while the ES2 electronics make it equally useful plugged in for rehearsal, recording or performance.
DETAILED FEATURES & BENEFITS
Solid Hawaiian Koa Top
The solid Hawaiian koa top is one of the defining features of the GS Mini-e Koa Plus.
Koa is known for a clear, focused response with a strong midrange and a warm overtone character that can become richer with regular playing.
Layered Koa Back & Sides
The layered koa back and sides provide durability and visual consistency while maintaining the striking all-koa appearance of the instrument.
Compact GS Mini Body
The scaled-down GS Mini body is noticeably easier to hold than a full-size dreadnought or Grand Auditorium, making it ideal for travel, home use and players who prefer a smaller acoustic.
Despite its compact dimensions, the design is engineered to provide a surprisingly full and punchy acoustic voice.
23.5" Scale Length
The 23.5" scale length gives the strings a softer feel and reduces the distance between frets.
This makes chord stretches, bends and general fretting more comfortable than on many full-scale acoustics.
Tropical Mahogany Neck
The tropical mahogany neck provides a stable and familiar foundation while contributing to the light overall weight of the guitar.
Ebony Fingerboard
The ebony fingerboard offers a smooth and durable playing surface and gives the GS Mini a premium feel under the fretting hand.
Taylor Expression System 2
The Expression System 2 uses Taylor’s behind-the-saddle pickup design to capture the guitar for amplification.
It provides straightforward plug-and-play functionality for stage, rehearsal and recording applications.
Shaded Edgeburst Finish
The Shaded Edgeburst finish is one of the features that distinguishes the Koa Plus from the standard GS Mini-e Koa.
It darkens towards the outer edge of the body, emphasising the koa grain and giving the guitar a more premium appearance.
Taylor Nickel Tuners
Taylor nickel machine heads provide smooth and accurate tuning adjustment while maintaining the understated appearance of the Plus model.
3.78 lbs Actual Weight
This individual guitar weighs only 3.78 lbs, making it particularly comfortable for travel, practice and extended playing sessions.
WHO IS IT FOR?
The Taylor GS Mini-e Koa Plus is particularly well suited to singer-songwriters, travelling musicians, acoustic players, younger players and anyone who prefers a compact guitar without sacrificing quality.
It also makes an excellent second acoustic for players who already own a full-size instrument but want something easier to transport.
PLAYING STYLES & APPLICATIONS
The GS Mini-e Koa Plus works particularly well for fingerstyle, light strumming, folk, pop, singer-songwriter material, acoustic blues and general accompaniment.
Its compact body gives it a focused and punchy response, while the solid koa top adds warmth and harmonic character.
HOW IT COMPARES
GS Mini-e Koa Plus vs Standard GS Mini-e Koa
Both use a solid Hawaiian koa top with layered koa back and sides.
The Plus version adds the Shaded Edgeburst appearance, upgraded appointments and a more premium case solution.
GS Mini vs Full-Size Acoustic
A full-size acoustic generally provides greater low-end depth and acoustic volume.
The GS Mini prioritises comfort, portability and an easier playing feel while still producing a surprisingly substantial sound.
GS Mini-e Koa Plus vs GS Mini Rosewood
The Koa Plus has a warmer, more mid-focused personality and a more premium visual presentation, while the Rosewood version offers its own distinctive tonal balance and styling.

FAIR DEAL MUSIC EXPERT VERDICT ★★★★★
Best suited for: Players wanting a premium compact electro-acoustic with genuine solid koa character, easy playability and excellent portability.
Customers usually upgrade from: Entry-level travel guitars, standard GS Mini models and smaller laminated acoustics.
Most commonly paired with: Acoustic amplifiers, PA systems, capos, clip-on tuners and compact recording setups.
Our tip: Don’t judge the GS Mini purely by its size. The design produces much more projection than many travel guitars, while the short scale makes it exceptionally comfortable for everyday playing.
Showroom feedback: The Koa Plus is one of the most visually appealing GS Mini models, and at only 3.78 lbs this example is especially easy to handle. The Shaded Edgeburst also gives it a noticeably more premium look than the standard Koa version.
