Taylor GS Mini-e Rosewood Sunburst, (Used)
Description
The Taylor GS Mini-e Rosewood Sunburst takes one of Taylor’s most successful compact acoustic designs and adds a particularly attractive combination of a solid torrefied Sitka spruce top, layered Indian rosewood back and sides and ES-B electronics.
Its scaled-down GS Mini body and short 23.5" scale length make it exceptionally comfortable for relaxed home playing, songwriting, travel and smaller players, while still producing considerably more projection and low-end presence than its compact dimensions might suggest.
Taylor’s ES-B pickup and preamp system makes the guitar ready for amplification and incorporates a convenient built-in digital tuner, while the Sunburst top and Firestripe pickguard give this version a more distinctive appearance than the standard natural-finished GS Mini.
This Pre-Owned example is offered in Excellent condition and includes a Taylor-style gigbag.

Service / Setup Work
All Pre-Owned acoustic and electro-acoustic guitars at Fair Deal Music are set up and checked before leaving the shop.
Our assessment includes neck relief, action, fret condition, nut and saddle, tuning stability, electronics and overall playability.
Acoustic guitars are naturally responsive to changes in temperature and humidity, so minor movement in the setup can occur during transportation or as the instrument acclimatises to a different environment.
Why Choose The Taylor GS Mini-e Rosewood?
Solid Torrefied Spruce Top
The GS Mini-e Rosewood SB uses a solid torrefied Sitka spruce soundboard.
Torrefaction is a controlled heat-treatment process that changes some of the physical characteristics of the wood. In practical terms, Taylor uses it to help give the spruce a warmer, more mature response while maintaining the projection and dynamic range associated with spruce.
Layered Indian Rosewood Back And Sides
The back and sides use layered Indian rosewood, providing the attractive dark-grained appearance associated with rosewood while giving the compact guitar a stable and practical construction.
Importantly, the rosewood back and sides are layered rather than solid; the soundboard is the solid component of the body.
Compact 23.5" Scale
The shorter 23.5" scale creates a softer string feel and places the frets slightly closer together than on a conventional full-sized acoustic.
That makes the GS Mini comfortable for extended practice sessions, younger musicians, players with smaller hands or anyone who simply prefers a relaxed short-scale feel.
ES-B Electronics With Built-In Tuner
Taylor’s ES-B system makes this version ready for amplified performance.
The onboard preamp gives you convenient control when plugging into an acoustic amplifier, PA system or recording equipment, while the integrated digital chromatic tuner removes the need for a separate tuner during everyday playing.
Proper Acoustic Performance In A Compact Format
The GS Mini was intentionally designed as more than a tiny travel guitar.
Its deeper body and larger soundboard compared with Taylor’s Baby series help it produce a fuller acoustic voice while retaining the portability and comfort that make a small-bodied guitar so convenient.
Comparison Against Popular Alternatives
GS Mini-e Rosewood vs GS Mini Mahogany
The Mahogany model has a naturally warmer, woodier visual and tonal personality, while the Rosewood Sunburst combines a spruce soundboard with layered rosewood back and sides for a brighter, more versatile acoustic response.
GS Mini-e Rosewood vs GS Mini-e Koa
The Koa versions have their own distinctive all-koa appearance and tonal character. The Rosewood model is the more traditional spruce-topped option and will feel immediately familiar to players accustomed to conventional steel-string acoustics.
GS Mini vs Baby Taylor
The Baby Taylor is even smaller and makes an excellent dedicated travel instrument. The GS Mini has a deeper and larger body, longer 23.5" scale and generally feels closer to a conventional acoustic guitar in both sound and playing experience.
GS Mini-e Rosewood vs Full-Size Taylor Grand Auditorium
A full-sized Grand Auditorium provides greater acoustic headroom, bass extension and dynamic range. The GS Mini prioritises portability and comfort, making it particularly useful where a full-sized acoustic feels unnecessarily large.
Who Is It For?
Home Players
The compact body makes the GS Mini extremely easy to keep nearby, pick up and play without the physical bulk of a dreadnought or large Grand Auditorium.
Singer-Songwriters
Its comfortable dimensions and balanced acoustic character make it particularly useful for songwriting sessions, vocal accompaniment and informal performance.
Travelling Musicians
The smaller format and supplied gigbag make the GS Mini significantly easier to transport than a conventional full-sized acoustic.
Electric Guitarists Looking For An Acoustic
The short scale and manageable body dimensions can feel considerably less intimidating to someone accustomed to an electric guitar.
Recording Musicians
Its compact acoustic voice can occupy a useful space in a recording, particularly when layered alongside larger acoustics or electric guitars.
Live Acoustic Players
The built-in ES-B electronics mean it can plug directly into suitable acoustic amplification, a PA system or recording setup without requiring an external soundhole pickup.
Suitable Genres And Uses
The GS Mini-e Rosewood works particularly well for singer-songwriter material, pop, folk, acoustic rock, country, indie, Americana, fingerstyle, strumming, songwriting, home practice, travel, studio recording and amplified acoustic performance.
Is A GS Mini Just A Travel Guitar?
Not really.
Portability is one of the GS Mini’s strongest advantages, but Taylor designed it specifically to avoid the thin or boxy response sometimes associated with very small travel guitars.
The body is based on Taylor’s Grand Symphony concept and uses a relatively deep compact body alongside a 23.5" scale. That combination gives the strings and soundboard enough room to produce a genuinely useful acoustic voice.
For many owners, the GS Mini therefore becomes an everyday guitar rather than something reserved purely for holidays or travel.
Story & Context: The Taylor GS Mini
Taylor introduced the GS Mini in 2010 as the next step beyond the company’s smaller Baby Taylor.
The idea was straightforward: retain the portability and approachability of a compact guitar while producing substantially more of the body, projection and playing experience of a full-sized acoustic.
Taylor increased the body dimensions and depth compared with the Baby and settled on a 23.5" scale, creating a guitar that remained compact without feeling like a miniature instrument.
The concept proved enormously successful. Taylor produced its 500,000th GS Mini in 2024, demonstrating just how widely the model had been adopted by beginners, experienced musicians, travelling players and professionals.
The current GS Mini-e Rosewood Sunburst joined the regular range in 2025, following the popularity of Taylor’s 50th Anniversary Sunburst version. It combines the familiar GS Mini format with torrefied spruce, layered Indian rosewood and the ES-B electronics package.

Power Requirements
The Taylor ES-B electronics require battery power for amplified use and operation of the built-in digital tuner.
The guitar can, of course, be played acoustically without power.
For amplified use, connect it to a suitable acoustic amplifier, PA system, DI box, mixer or audio interface using a standard 1/4" instrument cable.
Why Buy Pre-Owned From Fair Deal Music?
Buying Pre-Owned can make a quality Taylor electro-acoustic considerably more accessible while still providing the feel, portability and electronics that have made the GS Mini so popular.
A carefully owned Excellent-condition GS Mini is particularly practical because this is fundamentally an instrument designed to be played, travelled with and kept close to hand rather than treated purely as a display piece.
Every Pre-Owned instrument at Fair Deal Music is individually checked and assessed before sale.
Fair Deal Music Verdict
★★★★★ 5/5
The Taylor GS Mini-e Rosewood Sunburst is easy to understand once you play one: it manages to feel genuinely compact without sacrificing the impression that you are playing a proper acoustic guitar.
The torrefied spruce top gives it a strong acoustic foundation, while the rosewood appearance and Sunburst finish make this version particularly attractive. Add ES-B electronics, a built-in tuner and the supplied gigbag and it becomes an extremely practical all-round acoustic.
Best suited for: Home players, singer-songwriters, travelling musicians and anyone wanting a comfortable compact electro-acoustic.
Customers usually upgrade from: Entry-level acoustics, Baby Taylor models and basic travel guitars.
Most commonly paired with: Acoustic amplifiers, PA systems, loopers, acoustic preamps and recording interfaces.
Our tip: Don’t automatically fit very light strings because of the compact dimensions. The GS Mini is designed around comparatively substantial strings, which help the short scale produce a fuller acoustic response.
Showroom feedback: The GS Mini’s biggest strength is that its small size feels like an advantage rather than a compromise. It is comfortable enough to play casually but capable enough to use for serious writing, recording and amplified performance.
