Condition Overview

Good Condition – Noticeable cosmetic wear but fully functional.

This is a pre-owned trumpet and displays cosmetic signs of previous use consistent with its Good Condition grading. As an older silver-plated brass instrument, some signs of age, handling and finish wear should be expected.

Most importantly, the trumpet has been recently serviced and plays well, making its functional and playing condition a major strength.

Please examine the product photographs carefully for the exact cosmetic condition of this individual instrument.

What Makes This Sterling Super Selmer London Trumpet Special?

The Sterling Super Selmer London “Foreign” marking makes this a particularly interesting pre-owned trumpet for players who enjoy older and less commonly encountered brass instruments. Its traditional construction and silver-plated appearance give it considerably more individual character than a typical modern student trumpet.

This example also benefits from having been recently serviced. For any older brass instrument, the mechanical condition of the valves and slides is particularly important, so purchasing an example that is already playing well removes much of the uncertainty associated with an instrument that has been sitting unused.

Who Is It For?

This trumpet could suit an intermediate or experienced player looking for an affordable older instrument, as well as someone interested in unusual or historic brass instruments.

It may also appeal as a second trumpet for rehearsals, experimentation or general playing. The included Vincent Bach 1½C mouthpiece is particularly useful for a player who is comfortable with a larger-cup trumpet mouthpiece.

As with any individual older instrument, we recommend trying it in person where possible if you have very specific requirements regarding response, resistance or tonal character.

Why Choose a Used Trumpet?

Buying a good used trumpet can offer excellent value, particularly when the instrument has already been serviced.

Brass instruments can remain highly playable for many years when properly maintained, and an older instrument often has an individual feel and character that differs from current-production models.

For players who prioritise playability and value over pristine cosmetic condition, a serviced pre-owned trumpet can be an excellent choice.

Recently Serviced

This Sterling Super trumpet has been recently serviced and is currently playing well.

Servicing is especially valuable on an older trumpet because smooth valve operation, free-moving slides and correct mechanical adjustment all contribute directly to how enjoyable and reliable the instrument is to play.

Having this work already carried out means the trumpet is ready for its next owner to start playing.

Silver-Plated Finish

The trumpet features a traditional silver-plated finish, giving it a classic appearance.

As a pre-owned instrument, the silver plate shows signs consistent with age and use rather than presenting as a pristine new finish. These cosmetic characteristics form part of the individuality of the instrument and should be assessed through the accompanying photographs.

Vincent Bach 1½C Mouthpiece Included

A Vincent Bach 1½C trumpet mouthpiece is included with the instrument.

The 1½C is a well-established Bach mouthpiece size with a relatively generous cup and is widely used by experienced trumpet players looking for a substantial, full-bodied response.

Including a genuine Vincent Bach mouthpiece adds useful value to this package, particularly for a player who already knows that the 1½C profile suits their embouchure and playing style.

Has the trumpet been serviced?

Yes. The instrument has been recently serviced.

How does it play?

It plays well following its recent service.

Is the trumpet silver plated?

Yes. This example has a silver-plated finish.

Does it include a mouthpiece?

Yes. A Vincent Bach 1½C mouthpiece is included.

Is the Vincent Bach mouthpiece genuine?

The mouthpiece supplied with the trumpet is identified as a Vincent Bach 1½C.

What is a Bach 1½C mouthpiece like?

The 1½C has a relatively generous cup and is commonly chosen by experienced players looking for a full and substantial trumpet sound. Mouthpiece preference is very personal, however, so individual players may prefer a different size.

Is a case included?

Does the instrument show signs of age?

Yes. This is a used instrument in Good Condition, so cosmetic wear and signs of previous use should be expected.

Would this be suitable for a beginner?

It may suit some players, although the individual character of an older trumpet and the included 1½C mouthpiece may make it better suited to someone with some previous playing experience.

Would it make a good second trumpet?

Yes. Its recent service and good playing condition could make it an interesting second instrument for rehearsals, practice or players wanting something different from a modern production trumpet.

Where was this trumpet made?
