Yamaha DXR12 MK3 12” Active PA Speaker
Description
Yamaha DXR12mk3 12" Active PA Speaker With Bluetooth And D-Remote App Control
The Yamaha DXR12mk3 is a professional 12-inch active PA speaker designed for live bands, DJs, venues, schools, houses of worship, rental companies, event production teams and performers who need a powerful balance of portability, clarity and advanced system control. Sitting at the centre of the DXR mk3 Series, the DXR12mk3 is one of the most versatile models in the range, offering strong output and full-range performance while remaining more compact and easier to handle than a 15-inch cabinet.
With 2000W peak power, 1000W RMS Class-D amplification, 134 dB maximum SPL, a 50 Hz – 20 kHz frequency range and 90° x 60° coverage, the Yamaha DXR12mk3 is built for demanding front-of-house PA use, DJ playback, live performance, floor monitoring, stage side-fill duties and professional installation. It combines Yamaha’s Advanced FIR-X Tuning, 96 kHz DSP, Drive Motion Calibration, Bluetooth audio streaming, D-Remote app control and intelligent feedback suppression in a practical moulded enclosure.
Compared with the Yamaha DBR12, the DXR12mk3 offers higher output, Bluetooth connectivity, app-based control, more detailed DSP and a more professional system-management platform. It is the better choice for users who need stronger headroom, clearer control and greater flexibility for regular gigging, live sound, mobile events or venue use.
Why Choose The Yamaha DXR12mk3?
Professional 12" Performance With Serious Output
The DXR12mk3 uses a 12-inch low-frequency driver with a 2.5-inch voice coil, giving it the ideal balance of bass response, vocal clarity and portability. A 12-inch speaker is often the most versatile choice for working users because it is large enough to deliver a full, confident sound but compact enough to transport, mount and monitor with easily.
This makes the DXR12mk3 suitable for main PA use, floor monitoring, side-fill applications, venue installs, DJ setups and live performance rigs.
2000W Peak Class-D Amplification
The Yamaha DXR12mk3 features a 2000W peak / 1000W RMS Class-D amplifier, split between the low-frequency and high-frequency sections. This gives the speaker excellent headroom, fast transient response and the confidence needed for demanding live sound.
Because the amplifier is built in, no external power amp is required. The speaker can be connected directly to a mixer, DJ controller, audio interface, microphone source or compatible playback device.
134 dB Maximum SPL
With a maximum SPL of 134 dB, the DXR12mk3 delivers a serious level of output from a compact 12-inch enclosure. This makes it a strong option for users who need professional volume without stepping up to a larger 15-inch cabinet.
For bands, DJs, venues and event users, that extra headroom helps the speaker remain controlled and clear at performance volume.
Advanced FIR-X Tuning
Yamaha’s Advanced FIR-X Tuning uses linear phase FIR filter technology to optimise crossover behaviour and correction EQ. In practical terms, this helps the speaker produce smoother, more coherent sound with clear vocals, focused instruments and natural transitions across the frequency range.
For live sound users, this means the DXR12mk3 is not just loud; it is designed to remain polished, balanced and accurate under real-world use.
Drive Motion Calibration
Drive Motion Calibration is Yamaha’s low-frequency control technology for the DXR mk3 Series. It uses DSP to correct speaker movement, helping the low-frequency driver reproduce bass more accurately and with lower distortion.
For DJs, bands and playback systems, this helps the DXR12mk3 deliver tighter, more controlled low frequencies than a basic 12-inch powered speaker.
Bluetooth Audio Streaming
Unlike Yamaha’s DBR Series, the DXR12mk3 includes Bluetooth audio streaming. This allows compatible devices to stream audio wirelessly to the speaker, making it useful for background music, interval playlists, rehearsal playback, event cues and quick setup situations.
For professional applications, wired sources are still recommended where maximum reliability is required, but Bluetooth adds useful convenience for many real-world setups.
D-Remote App Control
The Yamaha D-Remote app allows compatible iOS and Android devices to control and monitor DXR/DXS mk3 systems wirelessly. It provides access to key parameters such as level, delay, EQ, crossover, feedback suppression, ducker, identification, panel lock and scene save/recall.
This is particularly useful for venues, mobile engineers and event users who want to adjust settings from the listening position rather than from behind the speaker.
Intelligent Feedback Suppressor
The DXR12mk3 includes intelligent feedback suppression designed to reduce unwanted feedback from microphones. Dynamic mode can suppress feedback in real time for handheld microphones, while fixed mode can help identify and manage feedback-prone points for more static microphone setups.
This is especially useful for speech, live vocals, schools, churches, conferences and event applications where microphone feedback needs to be kept under control.
Auto V/H Position Function
The DXR mk3 Series includes an internal accelerometer that can detect whether the speaker is being used vertically or horizontally as a monitor. This allows the speaker to automatically optimise its DSP mode for the position, helping reduce setup time and maintain a more suitable response for the application.
For working users, this is a practical feature that helps avoid incorrect settings during quick setup, changeovers or monitor use.

Why Choose A 12" Professional Active PA Speaker?
A 12-inch professional active PA speaker is one of the most flexible choices for live sound. It offers more body and power than a compact 10-inch cabinet, while remaining easier to transport and position than a 15-inch speaker.
For vocals, acoustic instruments, speech and monitor use, a 12-inch speaker often gives a clear and focused sound. For DJs and bands, it also works well as a main PA speaker or as a satellite above a dedicated subwoofer.
The Yamaha DXR12mk3 takes the 12-inch format further with advanced DSP, high output, Bluetooth audio, app control and intelligent feedback suppression. It is a strong choice for users who want a speaker that can cover main PA, monitoring, venue and event duties with professional control.
What Do Advanced FIR-X Tuning, D-Remote And Drive Motion Calibration Do?
Advanced FIR-X Tuning is Yamaha’s crossover and correction technology. It uses linear phase FIR filters to help maintain smoother phase response and clearer sound across the frequency range. This contributes to better vocal clarity, more natural instruments and a more polished overall sound.
D-Remote is Yamaha’s control app for DXR/DXS mk3 systems. It allows users to adjust and monitor speaker parameters wirelessly, including level, delay, EQ, crossover, feedback suppression, ducker, panel lock and scene recall. This is especially useful when speakers are positioned on stands or installed in locations where rear-panel access is inconvenient.
Drive Motion Calibration is a Yamaha DSP algorithm designed to correct low-frequency driver movement. It helps the woofer follow the input signal more accurately, reducing distortion and improving bass control.
Together, these technologies make the DXR12mk3 a more advanced and professional speaker than a simple powered cabinet.
Yamaha has a long history in professional audio, from mixing consoles and loudspeakers to studio equipment and installed sound systems. The DXR Series has become one of Yamaha’s most respected powered speaker ranges because it combines strong output, dependable engineering and practical live sound features.
The DXR mk3 Series builds on that reputation with improved acoustic performance, newly developed driver units, 2000W Class-D amplification, 96 kHz DSP, Bluetooth audio, D-Remote control, intelligent feedback suppression and Drive Motion Calibration.
The DXR12mk3 sits in the centre of the full-range DXR mk3 speaker line as the most versatile option for many users. It offers a strong balance of portability, output, clarity and low-end response, making it a natural choice for gigging musicians, DJs, venues and event users.
